Folks:

In three weeks will be in BKK for a short break. Amongst other things want to book a 5-7 day holiday for my TGF & her sister to Sydney. Although I've been to BKK probably 18 times over the past 3-4 years I've never had need of a travel agent and can't even recall seeing one. (Yes I've seen places that sell flights, but I'm chasing a holiday package.)

Do they exist? Do they sell package holidays to Australia; flights+hotel+breakfast+travel insurance? Any tips for what to look for or avoid?

Anyone know how difficult it is for TGs to get legit tourist visa to Australia?

I'll be staying on Suk probably within walking distance of Asoke. Anyone got any specific agents they can recommend?

Thanks,
F46

Travel Agents are all over the place. There is a good one I have used many times that is on the skytrain platform at the Emporium Sky train station.

As long as you are taking off and returning to BKK they can get some pretty cheap fares.

I don't think it is a problem for TGs to go to AUS. I know a few who have done it with out much of a problem.

You also might want to check the back of the Bangkok Post for travel package deals.

Fat,,, Tourist visa may indeed be a problem,,,,,Have said TG's travelled outside LOS ? how many trips and to were?
The processing of visa's from Thailand for Aus has recently changed and become a form with tick the answer and no interview??????
So a NO answer is very likely when you are unable to fit the "square" that the questions are aimed at.
I would advise getting visa application in ASAP.

If you want to avoid over-pricing on hotels etc,, let me know your plans and I can help organise from this end ( Sydney).

Cheers

Fat I`m just going through the Tourist Visa thingy, down load the form 48 from the Australian Bangkok Embassy site, there they give you a run down on whats required for Thai person to get a Touist Visa.

If you are travelling with them and they are going to stay with you, you are going have to provide a lot of personal info ie : how much do you have in the bank ect.

And for the Thai she must provide bankstatements for the last 6 months, house card, ID, a reason that she will return to Thailand, if she has a kid, a birth certificate needs to be provided ect.

Also it will help, if you provide a Stat dec saying that you will cover any medical or other expences that she may need, also advise that you will be taking out travell insurance on them for 20 million baht, cost around 3.5 k for a policy like this.

Do all this and follow the steps provided by the Embassy and you should be good to go..
