If my memory serves me, I seem to recall there being an art supply store on Asoke, just south of Suk, on the western side. So if you exited the Skytrain at Asoke on the south side, walked to Asoke and turned right (south), it should be on your right, just a few doors down. I've not been inside, and don't know if it's still there.

The recently renovated Central World has a book/music/stationary store that should have what you are looking for. The name is B2S or something like that – very big store, several floors, and decent selection.
You can access via the skywalk from Chit lom station
