It's used to underline a mistake made by your own...picture this: man goes to Chiang Mai very often cuz he lost his mind for Chiangmaicute and later missus finds out and man is in the shit....this is a case where the sentence is perfectly applicable.....

caronte's quite right; the term literally means " (yours is a) deserving face" -- as in, you face deserves the spackling of shit it just received. as "serves you right."

Som Nahm Nah Som = short version of Moh Som or "Deserving/Fitting" Nahm = Water Nah = Face so, deserving of the water (sprinkle) on your face and simplified = serves you right sometimes you'll just hear "Som ! !", meaning "Fitting ! !", but obviously shortened from the full phrase

Lokalmoron -- though the spelling is the same as if you had cojoined the words for "water" and "face", the term "namnaa" means simply -- if derisively -- "face". there is no implied or explicit connotation of actual "water" in the phrase. none whatsoever. go ahead, ask someone other than me who actually knows something about Thai linguisitics. and don't blame yourself -- it's a mistake beginners and other rubes often make.

well, first of all, not very nice of you calling me a moron, and a rube and I'm also NO beginner Nahm Nah is a compound word, I simply broke it down into its most basic components here are some examples of other compound words using Nahm : Nahm Nuk = Weight Nahm Seeyung = Tone Nahm NGern = Blue (color) Nahm Jai = spirit/will any questions ??
