Getting annoying with every third or fourth person I pass on the street saying "Oh Farang. Farang".

How do I reply with "So what?" or "What's your point?"

LOL>..

This is even worse when I would go up-country and people knew my name, but still referred to me as 'FALANG'. It would really get on my nerves after about 1 day.
It got to the point when (IF) people would ask my name, I would just respond "Falang".

Sorry mate I dunno how to translate what you want but you could always smile and say, "Sawadee Krap, sabaidee mai?" then toodle off and have a beer or a BJ or a massage or a....

LOL

I think we all went through this phase, I must admit it bothered me for a while, many years ago. The longer you stay in Thailand, the more you realise 99% of them mean nothing by it.

Reaction to it is futile.

Yes, quite agree with Yurune.
I was on a bus and the conductor told a Thai lady to go and sit in the empty seat next to me. She just pointed in my direction and said "farang", meaning "go and sit next to the farang". Sure, she could have said "go and sit next to that lovely, handsome gentleman in the red shirt" but she chose not to.

It's nothing personal, just their way of distinguishing between themselves and us. If I see people talking and I hear the word "farang", then I know they are talking about me.

Can't help but be annoyed by it.

Not a firm believer in "Mai pen rai" to everything that is said and occurs.

Wear a suit and a tie and loiter around hotels and office blocks, you''ll hear more 'sirs' than 'farang'.

oh well.

dont slap thais. or you end up like that austrian fellow. in the gutter, throat sliced.

suspect already out on bail. he only smacked him over the head with a bear bottle and it looks like part of it got stuck in his throat. not really his fault.

if they refer to me as "farang" I always try to point out that it should be khun farang. as in "khun thai"
