several ways.. verbally by saying "kop khun khrap" sounds pretty much like "cop koon cop" or you can just hand the person Baht.. this is probably the best way to thank a Thai .. the more baht, then the more thankful you are

Even more thankful is: Khup khun maak khrap! Thank you very much! Note: the Khup and the khrap sound very much alike as in "Cup coon mahk cup" Another note: P and B in Thai often have a sound that is about halfway between the two sounds in English. Thus: Cub coon mahk cub Would also be perfectly well understood.

Normally when a thai guy say thank you to someone older he'll say "khob khun krab" If to say thank to someone younger, he should say "khob jai" Normally, I'd say "khob khun krab" to my boss and say "khob jai" to someone else..like for example a waitress who served me drinks.

SS, Is there a way of saying "Thank you" with a bit of sarcasm? For example if a person next to you farts, could you "thank you" (but, no thank you, for that fart).

BK, normally Thais can put some sort of tonation to make it sound sarcastic...or simply add some ending sentence that's more casual like "khob jai wa" ('wa' is a more casual ending sentence than 'krab' and generally used among friends or someone who you don't really need to pay respect to) Solid Snake
