Quote from LY : I think I would have dumped the TGF if she talks to you like this, but that's just me. ______________________________________ That would be a bit rough LY. What if her intention was just to light-heartedly call him a silly monkey in a slightly teasing sort of way ? No harm done. The severity of the expression is only known by the tone used and in what context it is used. I had a girl once who used to call my little Joe a monstrous bastard. I know that I am not big, and I know it was used as a term of endearment and affection to add to the arousal we both felt at the time(s). When someone says."f*** off" to you, most people in the world would either react equally or take exception to it in some way, even the Irish. Language, even my own, has never been my strong point. But for part of my younger life as a youth, I spent in Ireland, where " f***in' well sit down in the f***in' chair and let's f***in' have a f***in' beer before we f*** off to the f***in' bar before your father gets f***in' home," was the sort of language I was exposed to and absorbed as truly my own........until the beauty of language and literature taught me to preserve that word for its full and elegant beauty. I had always thought of the act of f***ing as something extremely enjoyable and so to be invited even by a stranger to "f*** off" was taken as a sort of invitation to enoy myself fully somewhere else and so the full impact of the intention in the expression was lost on me. It still is, I am glad to say. Mind you, this is not a general invitation for board members to express themselves to me in such a manner. I far prefer it if an FR is written and a recommendation of where and who to f*** is made. Call me old-fashioned.

Thanks for posting this, Joe Wood. Well said. Actually inspiring, in both literary and a literal sense. As for the language question from Beretta's girlfriend again... I think we can assume, as previous posters have, that the A or I in both is going to be Ai, the Isan pronoun that is so often used pejoratively. Have to agree with Mel G, the only Wok I know in Thai is the word that is used for Year Monkey... when talking about the zodiac... all the animals have old formal names... Kind of a strange thing to call someone, but maybe they do where she's from. I think it's certain CS is right about the "know". Ai ngoh means Stupid. Doesn't she ever say nice things that you want us to help you with?! hahaha

I thought monkey was pronounced "ling" in thai ? and ngoh is "stupid".....but when spoke to someone close to you can be construed like "baa" or "ting tong" atl
