hola everybody!
as a expat living here for 10 months already, i just can't hear the word(s): mai mi (no have) !!! everytime i hear this word inside, 7/11, lotus, carefour, chatujak etc. etc. i feel like kicking ass! specially in the big shopping malls when i ask e.g. for the product x and the first thing they say is: mai mi! funny thing is, on two occasions they (staff) were standing right infront of the product!!!
if there was a price for the most hated word in the world i personally would suggest: MAI MI!

ahh - always the diplomat mr J ... I'm afraid I just go with "bert daa" or lapse into some Isarn, "bow ben yung dok" .... Perhaps he hasn't quite honed his speech skills yet, and is asking for a PENCIL, instead of course, for a PEN-CIN ! - oops, remiss of me Newbies, Bert daa= open eye ; Bow ben yung dok = the Isarn equivilent, of Mai pen rai, sadly ?? probably the most used phrase in LOS, as pointed out, meaning Never mind/ Dont worry.

I actually do stay civil (usually) then I walk away and bitch about it to my sweet and unbelievably tolerant wife for the next 10 minutes. Ý 
(She's been w/ me so long she actually gets what I'm upset about!)
