Forgot to mention the Advance Alliance Academy has separated the speaking and writing modules, so you can do module 3 - entirely focused on speaking- there.

From what I've heard, it seems like alot of these schools are copycats of Union. I think alot of it has to do with former Union teachers opening up their own schools keeping the same format and pretty much plagerizing study materials. Union appears to have been the best school around, but not anymore. Most of the experienced teachers for one reason or another left.
I wonder if Advance Alliance Academy is the school I heard about. All I remember are the abbreviations AA or AAA. If it's a brand new school, more than likely it's the same. I hear they have speaking only in the first 3 modules. They give you more time to digest all the stuff they throw at you. I wouldn't be surprised if they stretch the materials normally taught in 2 modules over 3. Anyways, if you hear of a highly recommended speaking only course, please let me know. Thanks.
By the way, is there a tradition of buying teachers a gift at the end of each module even if they do a crappy ass job? If so, some of these folks are getting spoiled rotten.

Fellow members,
Looking for Thai language courses.
I will be in LOS from mid Aug 05 for some time and staying around the area bounded by Din Daeng - On Nut - Khlong Toey - Chonburi - Sathorn - Siam Sq - Ratcha Thewi.
Can anyone give me any current info on locations, prices, duration of courses, time of the day they commence please.
I do not want the high standard ones, just the courses that deal with getting by in LOS, so I can talk to the average Thai person. I mean not the heavy corporate talk.

I recommend Somchart Language School, down Suk Soi 11.
Baht 8700 for 40 hours, one-to-one tuition. They have very good teachers, a relaxed atmosphere and you start speaking useful Thai right away. The length and timings of the lessons can be tailored to your individual needs to provide as little disruption to extra-curricular activities as possible.
Several members on this forum recommended this place to me last year and it was a great investment in time and money. Lots of laughs too.

How about the 'unique' AUA using the ALG method?
Anyone got experiences good or bad I took the 1h free test lesson & have sincere doubts the cheap hours (98bt-) are worth it since 800h are needed before the first sentence can be spoken!?!!
