My, my. What cynicism! No doubt based on years of experience on the Bangkok P4P scene.
Abrak's post was very measured and sensible and is the approach that I'm adopting anyway. Dealing with various obstacles as voiced by the Bros in no particular order, firstly this is Chiang Mai, not Bangkok. She lives 30 kilometres away from the city. Lives at home with her family. Her family's business seems a good one and she works in it. Nothing of what she tells me arouses any suspicions. I ask her about herself, she answers.It might not be the truth, but everything is consistent and credible.I will see for myself when I meet her anyway.
I am not thinking of having her come here to England to live, so any cultural adjustment will be mine mostly. I am seriously thinking about moving over there to live in semi-retirement initially, but permanently by the time I'm 60 in 5 years time. The photos are current and have the dates printed on them. OK, so they could be of another person, but to what end? I'll send her a webcam and that will prove what she looks like. So I'm being set up for a fleecing? She has never asked me for one single penny, not even to cover internet costs. I will go out there to meet her at the end of the year and will find out that she's really a gold digging lady boy, will I? Otherwise, she's a fat old hag, who's so thick that she would think that I wouldn't mind when we met.
If any of the Bros talk from personal experience of the Dating scene route to meeting a Thai girl for marriage, then I am prepared to listen to their advice. But I did not mention that I also have had personal experience. In January, I went there to meet three girls that I had been corresponding with. The chemistry wasn't right with the first one, but was good with the second one (from Chiang Mai by coincidence) I liked her so much that I took her to Hong Kong for 3 days and never did meet the third Thai girl who was working there at the time! She then came over here to stay with me for 3 weeks, but the fly in the ointment with her, was that she had a drink problem. I would have married her if it weren't for that, but unfortunately she couldn't stop it.
I never mentioned either, that this time around, I will also be seeing perhaps one, maybe two other girls from the dating site. They each know of the others, so if they were not what they seemed, then they would have realised long ago that their subterfuge would be rumbled when we met, so what was the point in investing their time to no avail?
It is worth mentioning also, that I have dipped deeply into the P4P scene in Phuket, Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Samui during three trips over the past 14 months, but am still not so cynical that I would want to lump (lump, not hump!) all Thai girls together as some scheming, gold digging sisterhood. I am realistic enough to realise that some might be after a better life in the West, but also know that just some of them perceive Western guys to be more caring, trustworthy, reliable than some of their Thai counterparts, who often gamble, womanise, drink and beat them. Maybe I do like the idea of having a young and beautiful wife. So all you guys deliberately choose the ugliest hags to be seen with, eh? I'll meet her and if all goes well, we'll take it further. If it doesn't work out eventually, then so what? Perhaps I'll like the 32 year old better. Or the 39 year old. But that would be thinking with my head (the one on my shoulders!) and not my heart. Unless there is anything constructive the Bros would like to add, then this ought to be an end to it, as we're way off thread for this subject. I'll keep you all posted when I meet her/ them at the years end.
