hi vancouver, i dont understand your translation... haa loi (roi) baht means 5000 baht or "to look for 1000 baht",depending on how u say haa. maybe "hai" the verb"to give" should be used.or "haa mar dai".."to earn.

Hah Roy = 500 Hah Mah Dai = find bring can = earn it wouldn't make much sense to use Hah Mah Dai in this type of context. "Koon Ja Dai" is certainly better, "You Will Get" Pom set gee krung, koon ja dai hah roy Baht dtaw krung ============= EesahnKing, bambam is trying to say "I am stupid, & don't know the story" Pom bPen kon ngoe, mai roo reuang

Dunno. Gonna tell us? But on a more serious note, I've noticed a couple of arguments about the Thai language that might not have occured if everyone used the Royal Thai General System of Transcription (RTGS). It's the method the Thai government uses (or is supposed to) and it seems to be the transcription method used in the better books/schools. (And it's not UK- or US-English biased for the non-native speakers among us.)

that system sucks and it's why Juntaburi is spelled Chuntaburi on the road signs I see/hear too many people mispronounce words because of the RTGS transliterations, like Kop Khun "Krap" and they are saying "CRAP"

I agree it's far from perfect (what system is?), but if you know its limitations/problems (like the problem with ch/j) it's not too bad. And the whole 'khrap/kap/crap' thing is very variable, even amongst Thais. If you work with Thais from different parts of the country you'll notice them using all possible variants, or even listening to different phone-in shows on the radio, one presenter will come out with pure 'krap' while another is quite happy with 'cap'. I think a lot of probems with RTGS come from English-speaking people pronouncing words as if they were English. I'm told the best solution is learning to read (and I suppose write) Thai.

Some of you guys...friggin 'eck. tum hai pom set ja hai 1 pun baht la krung ja nohng ja you don't need all the tense stuff about the orgasm in future, 'cause it is obvious anyway, but you do need the future tense on the giving, because it is a conditional statement. At least this is how I see it. tuk walah is all the time so not so suitable in this case garuna is a joke right? This is sex man...not friggin the opera with us standing around a grund piaano. WH
