Hi Skip -
CJ was using the term "vanilla" to describe relatively straightforward sex, rather than the more exotic varieties such as BDSM, fetishes, etc.
Different strokes for different folks...

I'm not sure the following can be characterised as "net shorthand" as such, but some of the ones I've read don't seem to be either. This came to mind just now when posting a reply on another forum.
I thought I'd originally authored it myself, sitting with my boss, and indicating to him on my notepad what I thought the person speaking should do. However, I have more recently seen it in widespread use, so;
