Sadly the forum doesn't allow it, it would be a great addition, but I seem to remember it was rejected as an idea some time ago.

Actually, I don't think it was a vote, I think it was just a pain for BK to set up, and considered not worth the effort for the small number of Thai readers. After all we are always reminded this is not a democracy....

[Quote: from Yurune on 4:56 am on July 4, 2005 Maybe these birds are ugly enough for you not to actually listen to what they say....wouldn't wanna drop your standards eh? Well, I did lower them actually quite a bit since not living anymore in Thailand. Would definetely get them back up if I moved back to bangkok. Is your issue the ugly feeling one gets when noticying the best one gets is so low in other people's scale? Might be shallow but I have no idea how one would treat gorgeous birds the same as ugly ones?!? quote :"by the way....for the record...is 'rong duu nang' incorrect?or is it just a way for you to make an ass or yourself, cos you didn't actually know the answer to the question?" Yes, correct, but not much used... your sentence looks much more like a textboox example than a spoken thai's. BTW I did indeed misread your second post in this thread. "Nang" is indeed prolly better than "Nan". Thought you talked about a girl. And again I love your style. uh...

My Mrs tells me that in the example given in the earlier posts it would be: "Tha khun yaak ja bai duu nang, rao bai duay" This version puts the "ja" in a different place from where it is in some of the earlier posts. Onera is right in his post - little things like this do matter and are really important.

SW...that's a correct sentence, however a completely different one to mine, highly likely how some Thai's would speak, however, that is not the debate, I wrote a simple sentence in about 3 seconds during which I stopped twice thing...'what the f*** shall I say'. It demonstrated the use of the word as asked in the question. Hardly worth the great debate it provoked. AP...the reason it was written as a text book, was because I was trying to teach someone...clear now....

rong nang = movie theater rong raem = hotel rong ngarn = factory rong [paya]barn = hospital rong = large building never heard anyone say "rong duu nang" (which would be something like "watch-a-movie house" in western parlance). samut wa = "supposing that", used to indicate a potential, an example, a possibility

Well, there's this one guy, you know, and he speaks Thai really, really good - so you better not get him irate by correcting him, or ridiculing his excellent Thai. Histrionics, at your service...

Rong Du Nang = A building watching a movie. Pen Rong Samrap Du Nang (a building for watching movies) would be plausible.... Sorapong, heads up for your once in a lifetime non critical post
