That'd would be the literal translation, remembering th is a hard t under the rules of the Thai transliteration system, most used here.
jong is "stare", suparp is "polite"
Dr Love's translation was "What are you looking at?"..minus the 'f***ing'

I do do the acid test with any new Thai that I learn with my wife. That is, I say the phrase to her to make sure that I'm saying it correctly and it makes sense.
So I did learn that factorx's reply was useless and Dr. Love's was useful but not particularly polite.

Tinytim: Do you have a Thai wife yourself? One with adequate but not fluent English? If you do, then you'll know that it's not always possible to say "Honey, what does this mean in Thai?"
If the phrase I want is an idiom, slang, expression, or proverb or anything else heavily cultually significant, then there's a slim chance that she'll know how to translate it from English to Thai.
There may or may not be a similar expression in Thai as the one in English. For example, "Serves you right". Translate into Thai and you get "Som nam na" but ask a Thai "How do you say 'Serves you right' in Thai?" and nine chances out of ten, they won't have a clue.
Basically, the language section of this forum is good for learning new words and phrases that your wife couldn't TELL you but she can CONFIRM them for me.

Agree 100%...LEARN elsewhere and CONFIRM at home is the only way.
And I'd add PRACTICE elsewhere also - just cause the wife understands your broken Thai does not mean others will.
And it goes both ways - can you explain it to her in Thai when she asks you the correct use in an English sentence of "went" or " have been" etc etc Enjoy.

I think we all spend too much time learning how to say things,,,,,,,,,
A typical Astralian would NOT say " why are you staring that is rude",,,,more likely "F*ck off idiot.
Therefore any uncomfortable situations in Thailand can be resolved with a similiar saying,,, I believe it is "Chaing yet".....it has always worked for me ( joke).
