As Nokna says I imagine that this is a problem for most of us, including myself. It is as there are no rules for this. Even in this forum the bros give you a different writing of exactly the same words.
Each different word book in the westener writing has different letters or even signs similar to letters for the correct pronounciations. I experienced that the TGs are quite good in reading the western way of the Thai language.
If am not certain how a word or a whole sentence is pronounced, I just let one of the TGs speak it for me. I then write in down in my way choosing westener letters according to their pronouncation.

as i say,written word is fine,no problem.
but how do i pronounce some of them.
i can see at least 2 possible pronounciations of phom,pai and khin.
and if i get the wrong one,i will probably sound so stupid
If you stick to the basics, the girls will usually understand you even if you mangle it as badly as I typically do. They know there are only a few possible things you're going to say, so they can narrow it down.

Making Out in Thai is a good start with Thai slang.
I didn't like this book very much. I found the transliterations very poor, it didn't include tones and it didn't have the written thai equivalents. It (the whole series, in fact) seems to be more written for laughs and as a curiosity. It's worth having, but Thai for Lovers should be the first choice.
Making Out does have the advantage of being small so you can carry it around with you, but since it doesn't have written Thai the girls won't be able to read it to help you when you mangle the pronunciation.

yes i've had the strange looks when ive got it wrong.
sometimes that can be the icebreaker,making a mistake and once the laughter has died down,they will teach you the correct pronounciation.
thai for lovers is a good book,i used to show it to the girls and they would avidly read it and giggle and point things out.
most of them wanted it as a present for them when i left.
it is presently in patong with a friend of mine who hopefully arrived today[tues] for his first ever trip.
i really fear for him,he is quite naive and i've been 'coaching' him for 9 months,but think most of the advice goes in one ear and out the other.

I won't offer my opinion on the Thai glossary in your post -- I understand that you don't claim to be 100% correct -- but I will just remind you and others of a very basic but important point:
Phom is used only by men. Women ordinarily use "chan" or more formally "dee chan", but never phom.
So a TG is NOT going to say "Phom cha tam." or "Phom chop."
Also:
"chop" is "like" ( not "want" )
"mai chai" means "that's not so"
"mai ow" means "don't want"
"mai yoo" means he/she/it is not here.

While we're correcting and clarifying...
"ow" is only used for wanting an object. "yahk" is used when you want to do something (this would be more appropriate in the context mentioned).
Also, an incredibly useful and simple word for these conversations is "dai". So I would say:
"yahk lia hoi, dai mai?" - meaning "I want to lick pussy, can I?"
Notice I left out of pronouns, which is common. The full sentence would be:
"phom yahk lia hoi khun. phom dai mai?" (or you can say "khun dai mai?" ).
The response will hopefully be "dai" or "tam dai", meaning "can do". If you get "mai dai" or "tam mai dai" then that would be the negative.
