BK: You sweet mouth mak mak! Supaporn: I was merely jesting. In the past I have tried to help the brothers with their Thai and the only reason I don't do it more is because a lot of people already feel I'm a bit of a know-it-all and I don't care to add to that; I don't need the greif. In all honesty the speed and enthusiasm that BK has shown in support and development of this idea, and the fact that it has been suggested, has increased my already considerable respect and admiration for BK and his creation. Overall, the spirit of this board is really a fine thing; The way people are quick to work together to achieve a common goal is at times impressive and often in the process much generosity of spirit is in evidence. I commend BK, supaporn and all the members making positive contributions (most of the brothers do). In that light I would fully support and assist with the Thai language section. Anyway, since I'm a semi-retired player, it's time for me to pass on the accumulated wisdom of my glorious past.

BK, maybe its better to have a thai guy say the phrase. don't want to be talking like a girl. "Sawasdeeka" maybe on the soundbite, the phrase/word can be said two times - once slowly, then at the normal speed.

wowowwwww, this is cool! I have a question... these phrases... are these the male version of the phrases?? There's two ways to say something - I THINK. ??? What I mean is a man saying "hello" does so differently than a woman saying "hello". So I take it cause the voice is male that this is the male version? Also I have a request... can we hear the sound byte of that phrase to use for taxi-drivers... damn I can't temember what it was now... translates as, "hello will you use the meter please".

Had it written down on the inside cover of my Lonely Planet BKK Street Map. LOL "Sawadee, meter na krap" Is it possible to "hear" that spoken. PLEASE! (also is that what a woman says, or is this the male version of that question. If so would someone be so kind as to supply me with the female version).

X, The rule is simple: "Khrap" is masculine, "Kha" is feminine. Unlike some languages neither nouns nor verbs are gender specific in Thai. The only exception being the personal pronoun "Dee Chan"(formal) or "Chan" which is used by women as "I".
