I think yoo-an is the word used for Vietnamese, and is not considered polite, the Vietnamese I know say it is about on par with jek, caek, or in english chink or gook or that sort of thing.

You would use something like this:
"Khun Chokdoong mah jahk na"
where is Chokdoong from?
"bpen kon yoo-an"
he is Vietnamese

I forgot to explain it's the German U (from U-Boot)... not the English U.

As in Das Boot. If you want to get technical, that was a British-American term. The Nazi fascist scum called them unterzeeboats (I don't know German so forgive the spelling. The u in this case is pronouned like uh oh.

Unterseeboots. Abbreviated to U-Boots (pronounced 'boat'). A term not really used in the UK, where the armed forces tend to call them submarines (and the people in them 'submariners').

I stand corrected, but did the Brits not refer the German subs as "U-boats.?" This would go back to the Great War.

Then there are the E-boats (patrol) and I-boats (Japanese subs).
