Can anybody help with the correct translation of their title song "om pra maa pood".

A TG told me that this means 'talk to Buddha' and this would appear to be the literal translation based on my limited Thai - not sure about the 'om' bit.
But I have also seen this translated as "no matter what you say". Which is correct? You may need to understand the context of the song to give a precise definition.
Just curious.

BTW - the song is pretty good!

Yeah I know this song... (my thai teacher made me translate it once)

Bird = Thongchai McIntyre, Loso is a band and Lek is the lead guitarist.

'Om pra mah pood' is the title of a song.

The full lyrics are...

'Om pra mah pood, go mai cheua' = 'whatever you say I dont believe you'

'Om pra mah pood' is a sort of idiom along the lines of 'speaking while sucking on a buddha'

Yes.

Om pra - 'when you have buddha in your mouth' or talk about life'
(look om - candy to suck on)
(om ham - suck your weenie)

'Maa pood' =you shouldn't talk about bad things or lie.

used to express 'don't talk' when in heated conversation. You'll hear it often in soap operas.

I second Dr. Love

'Om pra mah pood' means...'take a Buddha (amulet) in your mouth and speak'

In soap operas the meaning in heated discussions is,...say it ( (again) ) with a Buddha (amulet) in your mouth...

That is used to make the adversary shut up when he/she is supposedly lying.
As they would not dare to lie with a holy amulet in their mouth.

'Om pra mah pood' means...'even when you have a Buddha (amulet) in your mouth, I do not believe you'...

Or just astrong form of saying... ' I don't believe you/You are lying'...

i am with abrakadabra here. you can translat a text out of its content, too.

it is a great song. I like the vibe that is going through the dancers when the song starts.

I think Dr Love and I incorrectly translated 'om' as 'suck'. When it fact 'om' merely means 'hold'.

I was with a girl last night and asked her 'om noi dai mai?' or 'can you give it a bit of a suck'. She said in perfect in english 'what? you want me to do this?' took my dick stuck it her mouth but didnt suck.

'I think you want me to 'duut'' she said

So there you have it.
'om' means 'hold'
'duut' means 'suck'

I must say I really approve of her teaching techniques. Feel this is one lesson I wont forget in a hurry.

I translated 'Om Pra' as ''when you have buddha in your mouth'...

True, 'Om' can be translated literally as 'hold' or 'take' (like in 'om noi' - hold me) but it's clear that if you use 'om' as 'suck' in the two examples it doesn't make any sense if there is no suction.

Would you take a 'look om' and don't suck on it?
