The new 2006 Pimleur Comprehensive 30 lessons is out. Much better than the earlier 10 lession conversational program. For those that do not have the time to sit down and study the language books etc., this works,

I'm surprised to hear that anyone found the Pimsleur Thai course useless.
I found it very good and very helpful for practicing.
But I guess it's not for everybody.

IMO there is no single course that teaches you everything. Use a variety and take what you need from each.
The original Pimsleur course was good for learning conversational Thai - tended to be a bit formal I thought.
http://www.learningthai.com/speak_thai.html has always been good for the basics and those - hello - how much - you are beautiful phrases you need for the bars.
A couple of years ago I would have said the Rosetta Stone Thai course was hopeless (as a starting point it is) but it is an excellent source for correct Thai grammar and phrase structure (the boy is under the table etc).
You get something out of each one but none are a "babble-fish" on their own. Enjoy.

The new 30 lesson Thai course is much better than the original version. Lets hope that they make more since mose comprehensivie courses have 90 lessons. I have used to to learn Mandarin and Japanese.
