That guy's pronounciation is terrible. But one thing is true, if you know some 40 to 50 words, Thais will think you know lots of Thai. Last time when I was in Thailand for three months, I learned 40/50 words and girls in Nana Parking lot/Thermae thought I knew lots of Thai, except the two girls who knew me for long time.

Thai is a worthless language, I would rather spend time doing other things. My wife has learned english very well. She is currently at the redneck level which is basic english but still far better than virtually anyone I know in Thailand. She still can't say the letter 'r' so I get "I rub you berry berry much".... bless her heart. By the way, you know how to piss off a Isaan girl? If you are pissed at one just say "Isaan ma"..... and watch the fireworks. (Isaan dog) It seems one of the first things she learned at the english classes at the local college was "money order, check and wire". I am not kidding, they had a whole segment in banking and all the students learned how to send money back to their home countries. Who thought this course up? How about a job skills segment? How to fill out a job application, handle interview questiond, shit like that? But no.... they have to teach them how to send money home. I don't even fill out the bank wire forms anymore. I gave her a stack and have her fill them out, I just take it to the bank.

ATM cards form the U.S. get a double hit. YOu get fees charged by the Thai banks and fees charged by U.S. banks. Plus, if you ghive a Thai money, they will spend it, much better to give once a month and let them know thats it... with an ATM card Thais have a serious problem understanding things.... that's why I have never given my wife a credit card, she still thinks it is free money.... paying back debt has never been a Thai's strong point and I am not going to be the teacher.
