Hi ppls!

Well the time has come to decide how to handle my travel finances....This site was recommended by my travel agent. Has anyone used the card? It looks damn convenient! I was told it costs $3.75 (AU) per transaction (which is cheaper than standard ATM fee) and also 1% fee. Im told they use the VISA exchage rate which is apparently competitive.
How do you reckon this stacks up against TC's?

Hey skippy,
I only ever use my cards when over in Thailand or any country for that matter, that has the facilities to accept them.
In comparative terms I dont think there is a great deal of difference in the money you could save versus the convenience factor.
My vote is use your card, keeping in mind the usuall safe guards for protection ,you adopt at home.

Huh? If you take 10,000 baht out of an ATM that's AUS$359, so if you're paying AUS$3.50 + 1% the transaction costs you AUS$7.09. If you get 20,000 baht the transaction costs you AUS$10.59. That's just a stupid amount of money to waste, nearly 300 baht.

Surely it would just be cheaper to use your own ATM card and pull 20,000 baht at a go.

I believe TC"s are cheaper.

I am not sure about other countries but in Saudi we do not pay anything for the TC's just the face value in US dollars. You get a better exchange rate than cash nonwithstanding the 20baht fee per cheque.
Best to take large denomination cheques.

Thanks guys
Yeh machine I was wondering what the rate per cheque was....TC's probably arn't even worth it come to think of it. Will probably just take my bank card and just do a couple of big withdraws. Hotel has a room safe so hopefully should be secure. I guess I would be shitting myself that the machine will eat my bank card but I'll have a chat with my bank this week to see if they can put me at ease

Open an account in any thai bank and get a ATM cash card. it only cost you 20 baht for each withdrawal. Wiering money from your foreign account is absolutely the cheapest way to buy baht.
Its easy and safe !
