My experience with the Bank of Asia is extremely good. Absolute user friendly for me. Normally I visit the branch (Sukhumvit 25) not more than 3 times a year but always received with all courtesies. No problems of being a farang at this bank. Have several accounts with this bank for the last 5 years. I do not have a working permit and this never was a problem to do my banking with this bank. Hope your experiences will be the same when you might choose for BOA.

YMMV. A bank may have a farang-ok-f_ck-here policy but the branch may simply not want to bother with you. Or can't because nobody speaks Engarrich. Farmers handles our accounts and a white buddy uses Thai Military.

I have used Bangkok Bank for 3 years now. I am very pleased with the service and friendly treatment. They have even offered me a home loan and a VISA card.
I can not elaborate on the others, as I have never had any reason to try them.

Bangkok Bank have improved out of all recognition in the past couple of years - I am now able to get funds from a UK bank within 48 hours, extremely fast indeed.
During the Asian crisis of 1997, when all the banks had liquidity problems, thousands of investors rushed to change their account over to the Siam Commercial Bank, as the King is reputedly a 25% shareholder and - the logic ran - there is no way that the bank would be allowed to fail in this case...

I myself use the Siam Commercial Bank for 9 years now. Never had any trouble, but to be honest I haven't than more than receiving salary and ATM transactions.
As said, Bank of Asia (BOA), seems to be also to do a good job (probably because it's owned and foreign managed, ABN AMRO, Netherlands).
I think it all depends what kind of business you do ....

Which bank to use in Thailand.......
Siam Commercial Bank handles my wife's salary
HSBC handles 2 of my wife's credit cards
Stadard & Chartered handles other 2 credit cards
Bank of Asia handles my company's account
Citibank handles other 2 credit card....
Having also tried in the past Thai Farmer's and Bangkok Bank, i can say that so far, Bank of Asia is the one i have more satisfaction with......being under the umbrella of ABN Amro seems to help a lot......
