Can somebody tell me about salary levels for normal working girls in Bangkok? E.g. a shop attendent or a girl working at a textile factory.
What salary level is normally considered to be OK for people in general? Probably you understand why I ask. If I would like to fully support the living for a girl friend, what can be foreseen as the monthly cost. (I am aware of that the sky is the limit.)

The salary levels here are really low. Sales girls get between 5,000 - 7,000 B/month. Even in the office, a receptionist gets only 7,000 B. I know this from my former company.
Is that amount enough? Apparently not, because these girls talk too much on their handphones! 
Here is an estimate of cost of living:
Rent : 2,500-5,000 B
Food : 3,000 B (100B per day)
Transport : 1,000 B (for 20 days)
Handphone : 1,000 B (but can go up to 2,000 or more!)
Misc : 1,000 B
------------------------------
Total : 8,500 B - 11,000 B
Depending on where they work, the food can be cheaper. For a factory worker, food and transport is normally provided. As you can see their salaries are generally insufficient, which is why many girls resort to freelancing.
I used to have a girlfriend and was giving her 20,000 B a month, but that didn't last. 
I know of a girl who gets 10,000 B from her American boyfriend, she makes do on it without resorting to freelancing or working anywhere. However, she does complain that it is kinda hard to live on that. The amount depends entirely on you. Hope this helps.

Hi Thomasla,
The figures given by BK are very accurate. I can add that a "Robinson" or "Central" Dept. Store girl is getting around 6.000-7.000B/month. A 7-11 girl is getting 5.000B and a girl working in a textile company is earning at most 6.000B mainly working in an overnight schedule. Yeah, this is a harsh policy.
However, we have to consider that a governmental officer (professional w/bachelor degree) is getting NO MORE than 9.000B and a guy with a MSc degree is earning 12.000B. I know this stuff as my work involves keeping in touch with different kind of governmental officers/NGOs, etc. Furthermore, the professors at Chula/Thammasart etc are earning at most 15.000B and the way they survive is by engaging as many projects as they can from foreign institutions/Universities/NGOs etc. Amazing, right?
Well, this gives you a picture of some salaries within Bangkok context. I agree with BK when he says that some girls are virtually pushed to hang around the bars as freelancers due to the small salary. Harsh, very harsh.
Last thing Thomasla. If you are planning to send money to a working girl you have met, that's nice and very kind of you. She will be appreciated. However, if you are thinking that a go-go/beer-bar/massage parlor girl can switch from earning 40.000-60.000B ++/month because her darling is giving her money, please be aware. The NET is full of stories about farangs that came back to Bangkok to give their sweet Thai darlings a "surprise" and discovered that they were still working in the same place (bar/massage parlor). They discovered too late that these girls were sucking the money of SEVERAL farangs at the same time. Thus, take care. In fact, once I got one amusing experience....
One day I was in a hurry to write an e-mail to my place and went into an Internet Shop close to CLINTON PLAZA (Sukhumvit). When I finished my e-mail and when I was about to ask for the attendant of the shop for the bill the two girls on the computer behind me approached me and kindly asked to translate a message into English. One of them had a nice breast....ejem! I told them I cannot read Thai but they -in broken English- requested me to type a message. I though it might be interesting and I agreed. That e-mail was a short one starting with "Hi Darling....Bla, bla, bla, bla......." You know? same story "....Darling, my brother got an accident with motorbike. We need some more 15.000B for medicine.......bla, bla.....' The hilarious thing is that I finished that shrot message and these girls share the same message and copy and paste it individually to around 6 different farangs....AMAZING. I left that place with a smile in my face. INCREDIBLE. Well, hope this will help. Take it easy Thomasla. ENJOY!!!!

A guy I know, used to do translation for bar girls. As a result he had a collection of stories ranging from the sick parents, sick brother/sister, hospital bills for an accident, to a dead buffalo. And the probably the most hilarious was the amount request. 15,000-40,000B is not uncommon, but one girl once asked for 4,000B and even the translator asked the girl to ask for more!

Hmmmmmm Well, I was dating with a massage parlor girl for few months and I enjoyed a lot. Nice trips, sex in incredible places and positions as well, je! And you know what? She'd never asked me for money....Unfortunately, last week she asked me for 10.000B saying that her mother needs the money for medicine....I knew that this will be beginning of a series of requests for money and my emotions got spoiled. I decided to stop dating her. I have a small update on salary levels. I chatted with a girl who works at Central Dept. store, and she mentioned that she gets only 4,000B, which was why she was found in Grace Coffee shop in the evening. And now with the bad economy... you will not be hearing of better salaries. In fact, many companies are going to use that as an excuse for not paying anything higher.

On Friday night I visited CM2 expecting my cutie of the MP to arrive. In the meanwhile I saw a nice Thai babe with an incredible butt....Thus, I approached and talked to her. She said that she works at a beauty saloon near Baiyoke Tower and due to the small salary she gets from that place (around 5-6K) she had no choice and comes to CM2 every Friday and Saturday for "freelancing"....she was there with her room-mate which is also a freelancer after working hours. Both ask only for short-time at a rate 1.500B each. However, I was impressed on her pretty shape and she agreed full night at 2K. Anyhow, on Sunday I went to schek out her 'working place" and I saw her attending a bunch of female customers. The story was true. Ý
Well, seems to be that small salaries are the main reason for freelancing of some of the "almost" normal girls. What a pitty. CHEERS!!!!

yup. very harsh indeed. Now, here is something interesting. My friend was just telling me, that he knows of a girl that hangs out in Soi 7, whom he has taken a few times. I didn't ask how much he pays for a short time, but I guess it would be 1K or so. He tells me that this girl has over 200K stashed in her account! He saw her ATM slip.

I think that when these cuties discover that the easy money can be managed properly they can get good results. BK, I think this might be applicable to the case you gave in your last post.
Another thing....You know what? Not all but quite a few of the MP girls that I personally meet after "working hours" are very damn in saving matters. Sorry to say that. In fact, they are high spenders. The first month target is to get the Luis Vuitton stuff, the second month to get the PENA HOUSE shirt, etc. Of course, they send some money to their places as well.
However, the ROBINSON/CENTRAL/7-11/BEAUTY SALOON girls are probably much more concern on these issues. Thus, when they visit freelancers bar/discos etc the money they can get Ýmight have more possibilitites to be better managed rather than the one in the hands of some other girls. What a pitty.
