I'm aiming this thread to the NEWBIE fresh off the plane got a hard on and a pocket full of cash. Let's assume he already has his hotel say the Majestic Suites or Nana. How much should our boy be paying to play? Should he be paying at all given the large number of members who tell us that they get freebe most if not all of the time
I pay the girls 500 s/t and 1000 l/t and they seem to be happy with this. I go with a variety of ages from the early 20ies to 30++. Some guys think because I tend to pay on the low side that I MUST be going with the less desirable (aka dogs) girls. Estemmed fellow board members, I would respectfully disagree. The girls I tend to choose, speak good to excellent english, tend to be on the bright side, nice personality and would score O from 6 to 8 on the BigDUSA scale of good looking women.
Some guys will tell you they only go with stunners and that justifies (in their mind) paying thru the nose to get laid. Now if a guy wants to pay 2k+ for a s/t and god knows what for a long time. In my book there nothing wrong with pissing his money away. He worked hard to earn it and if he wants to spend money like a drunken sailor go right ahead. But for the rest of guys who don't want to over pay to get laid. Just remember what BigDUSA told you, the girls are more then ok with 500 s/t and 1000 l/t. Try it you will not go home alone.
When you come to BKK, Pattaya, Phuket, Chang Mai, Chang Rai the above amount of money is ALOT of money in Thailand. The minumun wage is around 150 bhat per day.

YOu are paying on the low side.. nothing wrong with that, but if you are not getting turned down by some of the girls that you offer that amount to then you have something special going on??
I have found that B1000 for ST is almost always doable. B500 more likely in Pattaya .. or the street walkers, BG on 7, Grace or Thermae.
also, what guys like in looks varies a lot. I tend to like girls w/o tatoos, colored hair, about 150cm, slim, small breasts, etc .. these girls tend to be less desired by many, but I like them a lot..
Your comments about getting to know the girls is right one.. I know that having been in Thailand for so many times that this works..
Problem for newbies is that they don't know how to act, they don't know any language (newbies, learn some before you go, basic thai is not that hard.. there are sites on the internet, you can buy books/tapes on places like Amazon and what you spend in learning Thai you will save in what you pay the girls.. plus you will have more fun) ..
Let me repeat this "LEARN SOME THAI" it is not that hard.. I am amazed at guys who have been going to Thailand for years and can't even manage "chu alai khrap" or "tao rai khrap" .. or the ones who call the "baht" "bat" .. or spell it "bath" (not typos, you see them do it consistently .. jeez, show some respect for the people and learn some of the language and you will have more fun as the girls will respect you more .. lecture over.. class can relax 
Another thing about price.. if you ask the girl in the bar what she wants.. usually you will get the high price .. kind of like buying a car.. ask the salesmen how much they want and they are not going to give you the best price ..
I seldom discuss money in the bar, just pay them at the end based on how I feel.. seldom B500, but sometimes.. usually B1,000 .. sometimes get a complaint and I usually shrug this off.. or give the B100 for taxi ??
I have never gone back to a bar and had a problem for not paying a lot .. I think again as BigD indicates if you treat them well you will not get hassled. .. also, in some areas Thai girls have short memories (tho don't rely on this as in some cases they have very long ones) ..
I know that some guys go to Thailand and just think "wow this would cost US$250 in the USA" and I can get it for US$60 .. why not .. actually I have no problem with this .. however, you can probably get it for US$30-40 if you want...
Also, one thing to remember about human nature (and very true in Thailand) .. many people like to overpay as it helps their self image .. I used to own part of a restaurant and was amazed at how some guys would give huge tips just to impress their date or the waiter (why anyone would want to impress a waiter is beyond me) ..
You also see this when people brag about how much they paid for their new "pick the item" ...
One of the reasons I have a lot of money in the bank is I tend to be someone that brags about how cheaply I got something.. just a lifestyle choice.. not necessarily right or wrong ..
The key point for newbies is to pick your style.. if it is to have a good time without blowing your wad (cash wad that is) then follow BigD's and my advice. If you don't give a damn and just want to have fun and money doesn't matter too much.. pay whatever you like, have a great time and don't worry about guys saying "you f_ckers who overpay are ruining Thailand for everyone else" .. ignore those assholes .. they are the cheap charlies that give all farangs a bad image ..

When I walk into a bar, I always have a big smile and say hello to the girls. When I sit down I play the dice game with the girls and if they win I buy them a drink if I win they buy me a drink. I TALK to the girls and treat them with RESPECT. I don't grab them in places they don't want to be touched unless they touch me first then I'm playfull with them. I'm looking for the CLICK and most times when their laughing and the other girls are having a good time the CLICK happens. Toto once gave me some good advice and I took it. Yeah, you can get it cheaper. But an extra $20 bucks for something good never really bothered me, to be honest. I'm the type that would get a lower rate and then give her a tip to bring it right back up again. But hey, I'm from NY so tips are king.
Now, for the brothers that are paying 4000-5000 baht for a shag, I do think that is a bit excessive (still not big spender stuff if it isn't a daily habit).
Bottom line is do whatever you as an individual can afford to have fun... for some guys that costs less than for others...

First trip to Thailand, I knew jack shit about the night life. I had read a few Trink articles and I had heard about Annies and knew it was near the Rajah Hotel. I had no idea about prices for the girls, hotels, taxi's etc. You name it and I didn't know it. That's why whenever I run acoss BK, I buy him a drink. I want to make sure that the newbies know there a wide range of prices you can pay the girls and the girls are happy with what I pay them. Some guys are big spenders and some guys like me are cheap charlies (I was called that in Saigon 30 years ago)I try to pass on accurate information so guys can save money and I don't have to pay more.

One thing a newbie should know is that the going rate depends on the venue: Pattaya is usually cheaper than Bangkok; beer bars are usually cheaper than gogo bars. ŻAlthough 500B S/T, 1000B L/T might be acceptable in a Pattaya beer bar (although I think it would be on the low side even there), I would maintain that this is unrealistically low for a Bangkok gogo. I think if you offered 500B S/T in, say, Rainbow II, most of the girls would simply laugh in your face; the going rate there would be more in the range 1500-2000 S/T, 3000-4000 L/T.

I just did a quick check and there are currently 19 pages jammed to the brim with very valuable threads in the newbie questions section and this topic has been asked many times before in one form or another. However here's one that for some reason seems to rarely ever get asked. If you ask a number of Thai ladies in the P4P biz what they consider to be a fair fee what will they say? I don't see this as such a hard question to ask, I did.
Granted I only asked a handful of ladies from only a couple places but for the most part I pretty much got the same reply, or at least very close. The answer I got was 1000 baht ST and 1500 to 2000 baht LT. I have no intentions of giving any guarantees about this being the standard, accepted fee but if anyone should know what would be considered a fair fee I would have to say it's the person who is offering the service in the first place. After all it's her body and who has the right to dictate how much she has a right to "rent" it for. Granted there will always be those who will ask for a higher fee but if you'll take a small amount of time to do a little bit of research I think you'll get the same results, the majority of the time, that I did.
If this does turn out to be considered standard by the majority of the ladies of LOS, and some of the ladies I asked are considered, at least in my eyes, quite stunning so it didn't appear that quality was that important a factor, then some of the brothers out there who offer less then these fees might want to pick up a English/Thai dictionary to find out if a couple of those words she spoke to you don't translate into Cheap Charlie.
Yes it does appear that some ladies in LOS will go with a guy for less then those fees, but I've read a lot of post and field reports on this forum and from what I've been able to gather the majority of the time getting a lady to acept that lower fee pretty much happens, at least in BKK, after the bars close and all the ladies that weren't BF'd earlier are now in freelance mode.
Of course it's going to be easier to talk a P4P lady down on her fee at 3 in the morning when most of them have been dancing or on their feet since 6 or 7, they're tired and probably hungry and yes they are well aware that the prospects of them getting a better fee at that time of night are very slim. Most of them just want to get it over as quick as possible so that they can go home to sleep or be able to spend a night in a nice comfy, air conditioned hotel room away from the BKK heat for one night. Under those circumstances of course there's a good chance of talking them down on the "standard" fee, but does that make it right?
I guess in the end only the brothers can decide how much they are willing to pay and if the thought of the lady you're with calling you a Cheap Charlie behind your back doesn't matter to you then to each his own. Let your conscious be your guide. As for all you first timers out there, I don't know how much this may apply but I get the feeling, at least from my experience, that the majority of the flights arriving into BKK take place at night pretty much between 10 pm and midnight. By the time you get through passport control, baggage retrieval, get a taxi and check into your hotel it will probably be pretty close to closing time for the bars. So if jet lag isn't kicking your ass and you decide to venture out into the BKK night looking for a companion for the evening then yes, that is the time of night where getting the ladies to come down on their fee is more then possible. Just remember this. The Thai lady intelligence network is vast as well as fast. The next day, your first full day in LOS, a large number of ladies in a large number of bars may already be aware of the latest Cheap Charlie to land in LOS. The rest of your visit may not be quite as much fun as you had hoped it would be.
One last thing to remember is that in my opinion, Cheap Charlies do the rest of us a lot more harm then the big spenders do. Peace
