Can anyone be of help on suggesting a good secure offshore bank? I have a registered Thai company and would like to open a USD account offshore either under the company name or under personal name. How about Singapore banking any experiences?

Singapore is the way to go. I am not an expert on this, but I know someone who is very knowledgable in this regard, and he spent the better part of an evening explaining this to me. There are many reasons that Singapore banks beat other ones. Especially if it is a larger dollar amount.

you cant beat hsbc's hexagon internet banking, sure you can get it via singapore etc
i have hk hsbc accounts but run them from anywhere in the world

Is it easy to open up an account in Singapore or HK as a visitor? I have a thai account but interest is next to nothing, whats the return on HSBC..

While your on this subject, as a regular visitor to LOS, I wanted to open a bank account here.
Do I have to be a resident to do this?
Hope this is the right thread for this question. Your advice is much appreciated.

The advanatge of singapore is that there are no currency controls. many countrys restrict what can come in, or more importantly go out. Thailand is one. when I want to transfer $ from my citibank thailand to citibank singapore I have to bring paperwork to show it is my salary, paid in thailand. You have to document where it came from etc. Even assuming it is legal money, that is a hassle you dont need. singpore bank will give you account in any currnecy denomination you want. USD, Euro, Pounds etc

I met a brit a few years ago at a RT, cant remember his name for the life of me, is he still around? Or someone else that people use, and can recommend/vouch for?

i have a Citibank account in Singapore. works out fine. I can transfer in and out very easily. The advantage of singapore over Thai bank? no currency controls
