Can any Candians advise if they have had any problems
using a BMO or RB ATM card in Bangkok? Do you have to use them at specific banks.Thanks.

As long as the interac logo is on the ATM (most of them have it) you will be good to go.
The only problem I have is when I exceed my daily limit and do not have enough cash for a S/T.

You will be fine as long as you have a 4 digit pin number for your bank card. There are still some Canadian pins that are 3 or 5 (can't remember which) digits and these do not work (according to TD bank). There are tons of machines and if one won't work, the next will. As ccvvbb said look for the right logo...Plus, Cirrus etc, look on the back of your card.

Look for the Interac Logo, or STAR PLUS, and a few other logos. They should be on the back side of you debit card. Match those with the signs near the ATM in LOS, and viola...

Just like others said, you will not have a problem using your card at Bangkok ATMs, as long as you have the Interac or Cirrus logo on it, and the ATM you're using also shows these logos. Also, make sure you have a 4-digit PIN, like the other poster said. I've used my (Canadian) bank cards on both trips now, and have not encountered any problems. The f/x rate is excellent.

Goldenstar,, you show your ignorance of Australia,, we tried very hard to engineer our Kangaroo ATM's but could not get the feed slot to work ( tails too long and get stuck ) so in 1988 we introduced Koala ATM's they are almost round ( easy to roll out) and usually stay asleep through the whole exercise.

One more thing you'll have to remember Jasper (or is it Banff?) is time difference. Your withdrawal limit is based on Cdn time, not on BKK time. In other words, your limit is applied against time of day the transaction is recorded in CANADA (or USA) and not in BKK... Got caught like this once and felt pretty dumb (and so much the poorer!).
