Hi,
My TGF has been asking if she can buy a small Air Con for her Apt. Just wanted to ask if there are Air Coolers or Portable Air Con in BKK? Where can I buy them and how much do they cost?

Nothing portable about proper air con....talking split units. About 11,000B upwards (installed) for a small unit. They measure in Btu's in Thailand (British Thermal Units), and the Brits of course have no clue what this is...so I can't remember the sizes.
Be careful to choose the right installer....can't remember the name of the rather cute sales girl who came to seal the deal. Sadly they sent two hairy arsed fitters to do the work...was hoping for a team of cuties hanging out at the house for a day.

if its a small apt, 7000 btu should be enough...
lots of choices... go visit homepro and choose the ones on sale, especially older models.

Whether or not you can use a portable one depends on if you can fit it in a window properly. All A/C's must exhaust the hot air outside, or it will do no good.

20 to 25k will get a real cold aircon that many Thais will love, 15 to 17k BTU.
Trouble is that the electicity bill will shoot up.

15/17 BTU for a small apt? If you want to freeze her ass perhaps....a 9k BTU is more the enough for a 40/50 sqm studio....but the portable a/c unit could be the best solution to save money on the elec. bill when working together with a fan and naked body...
