Wondered if the bros could help here, I have been in Thailand several years and recently obtained a work permit from my employer. My "Thai" salary is recorded as 57,000 Baht, I have been banking (savings/passbook) with SCB for 2 years. I just applied for a SCB credit card, provided work permit, passport, letter from employer confirming my address and salary and 3 year contract, and I was declined ! Minimum requirement was only 15,000 Baht a month, any bros had this before ? Any recomendations on how to go about obtaining a Thai credit card ? I thought I had all of the angles covered !

The 15,000 baht is for Thai applicants. For foreigners different standards apply.

I am surprised you have a problem. My recorded salary is Bt50,000 per month and I have 2 SCB credit cards with a credit limit of Bt700,000. I dont even have a bank account at SCB. If you really run into problems, PM me I will put you in touch with someone.

My Recorded salary is 200,000 a month and I have 2 credit cards from SCB, but they are of only a 30k limit, which is what I had to deposit with them to hold as security for the cards. No trouble getting them though bash

I have a credit card from HSBC (although my cheque account is with Bangkok Bank). Had no problems getting a visa card from them, complete with limit of 750,000 baht. The useless pricks spelt my surname wrong (which often causes problems when ordering stuff online).

I also got a credi card from HSBC although I don't have any salary paid into that account. Only 250k per month limit (how did you get 750 scobie??) but I find that is enough. I personally don;t use my credi card so much in Thailand. I use it mainly for on line purchases and sometimes in hotels and for stuff like in airport duty free etc. I do have corporate AMEX card however that gets more use.

No idea MSB. I wasnt asked how much I wanted, nor did I request any specific limit. They just gave it me. But like you, I never use anywhere approaching that amount, even when I'm travelling for work. It's bigger than the limit I had in Australia!

Thanks. I did think about asking for my limit to get raised but thought that they then might start looking into my income and other bank accounts etc which I don't want. Maybe you are just better looking than me !
