Hi guys. I also don't know if this is relevent but my girlfriend who use to work in a beer bar in Clinton Plaza told me her base pay was 3500 baht per month. I'm assuming that the pay would be more depending on bar fines and meeting a certain drink quota but can you imagine. That's not even 100 US and PER MONTH. Like I said this was in a beer bar not a gogo bar but I was shocked to say the least.

Some bars pay nothing for base salary.
One place I know of on Soi 22 used to pay 800 baht per month, I know because my wife used to work there. Admittedly this was in mid 80s, and if you factor in change in forex rate and inflation that could easily amount to 2000+ now. Anyway, since we know some places pay their top dancers maybe 20,000 baht, or more, it ought to be clear than any sort of 'average' is going to be either difficult to arrive at, or no better than a guess.

Varies - some places in Soi 33 pay a 10,000 basic to hostesses - but they then get fewer "customers" compared to PP and Cowboy etc (where some girls can do 2 or 3 a DAY). My freidn in Soi 33 reckons on about 1 a week grossing about 20,000 a month.
Mind you her rent for her room is only 1,400 a month so everything is relative
We often see reports on this forum of girls making 40,000, even 60,000 - my answer to that was that I'd stter clear of those girls as they must be doing much boom boom to earn that much money even if they ARE great lookers from the MPs!! ;)

Hello Chateaujade, cmore here. I agree that it would be hard to come up with an average on the base salaries for the ladies but my lady is a beer bar hostess not a gogo dancer and I just can't imagine the bar owners paying anywhere near those kinds of base salaries to their hostesses and waitresses. I wish they would because if it weren't for them, how would we get our drinks (Now there's an idea who's time has come. An all you can drink buffet style bar  ). Hey Whitespider, how's life treating you? Sounds like your friend on soi 33 is doing okay there, but aren't the bars on soi 33 a little more on the pricey side from most bars? The brothers that visit those places must have some serious baht in their pockets. For the kind of money they spend I have to imagine that the bar owners try to hire as many of the best looking women they can to work in their bars and doesn't that normally constitute the lighter skinned Thai ladies that most Thais consider the best looking? My lady is absolutely beautiful in these foreigners eyes but she happens to be one of those darker skinned Issan ladies that the Thais seem to shy away from. This might explain why she is hostessing (Is that even a word?) in one of the beer bars on soi 22. Trying to figure out an average base salary for these ladies becomes an even harder task when you're forced to also factor in the fact that a light skinned hostess is probably paid a bit more than a dark skinned hostess. i can only speak for the bangkok gogos. there it does vary a lot depending wether the girls are good looking, on the barfine and drinks required. but in genreal one can say that the salary (if it is nbot cut for various reasons stated above) is between thb 4000 and 12000 depending on the bars. the last number is actually from a affluent nana plaza bar which does attract a lot of good looking ggirls at the moment, may be because the owner is willing to pay up to thb 12000 a month for stunners.
service salaries are little bit lower strating from about thb 2000 to thb 6000. all the above figures are plus tips, barfines, drinks etc.
but as the salaries are rather low, most of the stunners simply do not care about their salary or wether it is cut or not. i know some girls who go short time 3 times a day for thb 5000 each so why the hell should they bother about a thb 7000 salary for the month? They can easily earn nearly the same amount in about 1 hour.

i read about the girls requiring to have a certain amount of ladydrinks/bar fines a month and it mysterfies me.
i can only speak about phuket,but i know many bar/go-go owners and they all tell me no such thing.
and the girls tell me the same,they don't know about it at all.

In a Pattaya bar I was watching proceedures. When a girl got a lady drink or a bar fine she was given a slip of paper from the bar , as her record of the transaction. The system worked in that bar in that they paid higher than norm, but if effect the bar deducted money from her salary if she did not hit quota.

In many cases the girls get no salary ..
Base salary depends on how much they wear.. in bikini, figure B3-4K, topless add about B1-2K more and bottomless add another B1-2 more ..
They they get about half of the lady drinks .. if LD is B85 they may get B40 .. some bars have a quota for this, miss it and they charge you .. wonder why you get attacked as you enter some bars..
Bar fines go to the bar with the exception that some will give half the bar fine to the girl once she reaches her quota .. often 10-15 per month ..
If the girl takes a day off she is charged a barfine .. take a few days off and the salary pretty well disappears..
Most have to work six days a week ..
The girls make most of their money from tips for service.. even a stunner getting B12K per month, will make 3-5 times that in tips for sex ..
I had one friend in a bar back in the B25 to the US$ days that did 50 barfines a month .. and was making about B50K per month .. The only bargirl I ever met with a plan.. she saved for five years and bought land up country, a pickup and moved the family there.. very nice lady and very good sex..

Hey Oaktoad, looks like you've done some fairly extensive research on the subject. Hope you had fun during the interviews . It's just a shame these days since the crackdown that the ladies don't have any choice but to accept the bikini amount of the base salary. After all going topless or bottomless doesn't get them extra pay, it only gets the bar shut down for 30 days or more. Oh for the good old days. Peace out

Nokna, maybe this system isn't used in Phuket, at least in the bars you checked, but I can assure you that it is absolutely the norm in Bangkok and has been for decades.
The dancers have a quota of lady drinks and BFs to make, and that's where their base pay comes from. Above that they get commissions on the overage; but there are also penalties for various infractions, showing up late, not showing up, this and that.
I can't speak for Pattaya, but I bet it's the same. I CAN speak for Bangkok.
And I'd be curious as to how such things are organized in Phuket, if it isn't this way?
Typically the girls get 1/2 to 1/3 of the price of a ladydrink as commission. Which is why we ought to buy them...but personally, I hate being hustled for them so I avoid the places where that happens.
