Thank you Lady X, I think you've summed up my mindset much better than I have managed myself. 
While I don't haggle with the girls the way I do at the markets, or with the taxis, if they want more than I am wanting to spend, just like any other service, I walk away and look for another service provider.

No Nokna, that's not what I meant (as you well know). ŬI just refuse to believe that money is the sole or even main defining factor of a "good guy".
I've been in enough bars in Thailand to judge for myself that there a plenty of "asshole type guys", and plenty of regular nice good guys too. Ŭ
I think my main point with my post was I understand and even respect where BigD is coming from and assume he must be a good-guy because these ladies are willing to go with him repeatedly irrespective to the fact that he isn't a big payer.
Leaford... I'm hopeless at the whole haggling thing and am sure I over-pay for everything in LOS. ŬI just don't see anything wrong with the mentality of "this is what I am willing to pay and no more", whether it's with a cab-driver, stall-owner or bar-girl... and ofcourse provided it's done politlely. Ŭ
I think there was a reply earlier on in the thread about "the rich westerners can afford to pay more... the poor bar girls deserve more than 1000 baht l/t... they have to earn a living". ŬThat was what made me think of for instance the cab-drivers. ŬDo the people who advocate generosity for BGs (or more precisely: the people who knock BigDs 1000 baht rule) are they also as generous to other professions and as quick to knock someone who is a cheap-charlie to cab-drivers.

i know you know i was joking.
BigDUSA and i are different,he will pay a lower amount then me,but that's OK with me.
i normally pay a girl 2000 wether i spend 1 hour with her or 16 hours.
i know i'm stupid by paying that much for a S/T,but i love them so much and they give me a good time i feel i cannot resist giving them all that money.
there have been times when the girl has told me 500 or 1000 for the time spent with me,but i still give them 2000.
i know i might be accused of raising the prices,but it's just the way i feel.
but by doing what i do,i get freebies,the girls appreciate my actions.
and when i return in a few months time,they remember me.
the girls are special to me and i don't treat them or like to think they are pieces of meat.

I finally got a chance to wade through this thread and I see those who feel BigD (and others) are not playing (and paying) fairly are still dishing out the same well-intentioned, but completely illogical and ungrounded statements and irrelevant comparisons.
There is not surprisingly, no response yet on X's question about whether the same generosity applies to non-BGs (which points out one of the several hypocrisies we see here). When I've asked this before the few responses I've received have been along the lines of "but the BGs are giving us a precious gift, and we can't put a price on that" (except of course when it's over 3000B and then suddenly those guys can put a price on it  ).

I've been reading back a lot on this thread, and I have to say i agree 100% with bigDUSA, he sounds abit like me in fact!! I'm probably more tight than him I've never paid more than 1000bht long time, but the girls i go with always come straight up to me when I go in the bar and want to be bar fined, and they know how much I'll pay. I do love all these girls and I just treat them very well, and I think this is the main point, have a bloody good laugh with them. I'm not really that bothered about the sex bit.
Just because someone may pay them 5000bht, does not make them a good man. They might bore the poor girl to death. the girls have told me on many occassion they would rather go with me cause they have a laugh, than with some bod who bores them. They know I just don't have that sort of money and it's ok. There's always someone who will ' i get 5000 tomorrow' as they say, when they want me to bar fine. I think the bottom line is just treat them very very well.

I sought pay whats fair, I once recently asked a girl with the best body at jungle jims how much long time at 7pm..she said get me out of here now 1000 baht.. i took her to the novotel where i was staying danced downstairs at cm2..paid almost 1000 baht to take her upstairs with the hotel staff....not too badly staring her up, id etc...she went at me full steam..was a great night...next day gave her the 1000 and 500 tip...she was super keen to see me again.....thats an example to express sometimes its all they want, but if they are good tip....themaes 1000baht 250 tip for good work..700 short time ...1000 if anal 200 tip.....nanna disco girls 1500 long time if pretty good, 1200 if not...400 tip......(always say i tip for good work)...... cm2 2000 baht 500 tip... really impressive girls very good 4000 tops!...beer bars negotiate case for case....tough times deduct 10% in higher cases add 20% lower cases ie hotter girls take less ...average girls help out pay more and give them a taxi.....whats it do us..1oo bucks all night or less?...By doing the right thing....though money isnt everything it is a help (a big help)..peace..

I thought that the Novotel in CM2 was Guest friendly but you paid 1k to take her upstairs???? I stayed last week at the Novotel Lotus without any problems taking back late night guests, one night they asked my room number but were very polite and accomodating!

siam novotel.....try bringing a chick up from cm2.....its mission impossible without 990 baht...as other members will vouch...there are two guys with walkie talkies manning the elevators entrance, its also known as not bar girl friendly....meaning they expect your girls to at least appear possibly not p4p girls, while they actively promote their own nightclub....which draws the better sorts, 90% are p4p girls.....the lotus is not the siam.

just one other thing oz.......(i am not lesbian witchhunting you) but i know alot of lesbians read threads to appear that they have gone to thailand, even correct people as you attempted to here, you say cm2 novotel guest friendly....yet i paid? check if you stayed last week no problem at lotus....how was it? as the novotel is at siam!
