(These rates are from Xe.com and are their mid-rates, however I have found that these "mid-rates" reflect the over-the-counter exchange booth rates for cash in BKK; Pattaya etc)
Inflation has averaged ( I mean "averaged" ) around 2.5% per annum in both countries over the last 4 years. Sure I'd rather get 30 baht to the $Aud than 25 but till we dip under say 20 to the $Aud (touch wood! touch wood!) it all still seems to me to be within the normal range for swings and slides.

As I said....SCB's buying rate for USD today is 34.99.....I see now it has slipped to 34.81 for notes and 34.99 for T/C's.
So for $100 at SCB you will get 3499 THB for your $100 in checks and 3481 for your cash.
Feel free to exchange at XE.com if you like, but looks like you would lose out.

The Thai Bahts conversion rate off-shore and on-shore are different,,,not sure how that works but it's a fact. SO your both correct 34.99 in Thailand and 32.75 off-shore.
Yurune,, yes my company OWNS the land ( maximum farang ownership is 40% because it involves land),, but yes I have the majority of voting rights,, and YES I have 2 years to change that.Further protection in written into the company rules by having a minimum "forum " set at 70% ( i.e I'm not there no meeting can take place) At worsed it will mean the company leasing the land to me for 30 years so nothing can moove without my consent.
Either way I have effective control of land that has substantially increased in not only BAHT terms but especially in AUD or US $ terms.
And in the mean time I can have fun playing aquaculturist

P.S My Thai shares where going GREAT until they brought in that 30% ruling,, LOL. Was 45% in front now only 20%,,mai pen rai.

Do you really need to jump through hoops to own what you've bought? Deep down you know the law will not protect you in any way......
I let the authorities have minimal idea of what I am up to.....far easier that way....

Well Yurune that's life. I am not how things are in the UK, but they are not much better in the USA. Tax laws change there are a whim usually hidden in some big bill now one reads until it passes. Just last year they snuck in a new tax change that cost US expacts plenty of more money in taxes and lets noit even talk about the sue mentality that can make a millionaire flat broke in a few years of court cases, because even if you win in court, you lose paying the lawyer fees.
Thailand a much safer bet than the good USA.
Besides I am a simple man all I want is not to freeze my ass off, a good bed to sleep in, a good meal and a good BJ. ALl of which I already got this morning and it is only 9:00 AM. I think I will stay here.
