too true Future, but then, as we all know, all banks, and all their spin off companies, are wankers. If it wasnt for the fact that we need them so much ..... come the revolution, first ones up against the wall

My experience is that pretty much most of the time, you will incur some charge for the exchange of currency. So that means that you want to exchange currency as few times as possible. Additionally, you ought to take advantage of using your credit card. Since the exchange rate on the day that you used the card is in effect, you get the advantage of no charge for exchange. The down side is that in some places they charge a percentage for you to use the card. I know of a place that will give you a cash advance and charge it to your CC as a purchase but charge 5% for doing so.

Thanks Califdann I will use large denomination TC's to minimise the fees. I will also take CC and normal ATM card so hopefully I have covered all options lol. Can never be to prepared!

Hi all, About T/C...I heard about many fake ones being produced. That could be one reason why the banks are scared of it. Same goes for old 100's...especially those w/o the extra seals. Just ask your bank to give you new 100's because you are travelling oversea.

You generally receive the same exchange rate for $50s and $100s. Todays rate at BKK Bank was 33.84.

Wife stated that in Thailand they give More for $100 Thailand mentally won't Change.
