Oaktoad hit the nail on the head when he talked about guys spending money like it meant nothing to them and they thought that people he was lavishing it on would respect him. They don't, as they feel the guy is trying to buy them. Buddy (he IS hansum man, sexy man) of mine was hot for a waitress and he tried to impress her with very large tips and struck out over time and finally gave up. We stopped going to this joint for 6 months and then we started to go again, by this time he was dating someone else and I asked him if he would mind if I put some moves on her (me not hansum man, sexy man). Go right ahead, I know he's thinking I have NO CHANCE with her. I had always talked to her and I made her laugh many times. So I started out slow, talking and laughing and giving her my normal 10% tip.Couple of weeks later, I asked if she would like to go to my favorite place for lunch and a walk thru a large garden. We started seeing each other for about 2 years. My buddy was a litlle pissed but he didn't listen to some good advice, don't try and buy the girl. She won't repect you. When I do the game the girls have to earn the drinks and I watch how they play the game and when it's their turn to pay how are they with it. Brother Big D I think your definition of the term Cheap Charlie appears to be a bit different then what the rest of us view the term to mean. From my understanding of the term I believe it means someone who consistantly tries to get the ladies to come down on their price, whether it's the so called "standard" price or not. Someone who insists on always trying to low ball the ladies in order to pay as little as possible. Anyone who cares to correct my aaccessment please feel free. I spend many months putting together the money I bring with me to LOS with the intention in mind that very little of it is to return home with me. After all vacations are the one time that I shouldn't have to be worried about saving or budgeting my money or paying bills. I get enough of that during the other 50 or 51 weeks each year. The food, the beer and everytime I go movie shopping at Pantip or MBK I just can't get over paying 3 or 4 bucks for DVD's that would cost me 15 or 20 here in the US. If you ask a Thai lady how much she wants for LT and she says 1500-2000 baht then she's quoting you the "standard" price which the majority of them seem to be aware of and accept so she's not trying to pull anything on you and you should be more then willing to accept that quote. If however instead of 1500-2000 she only asks for 1000 then HELL YES you should definitely accept without any further discussion because for whatever reasons she may have she is willing to go with you for less then the "standard" price, in which case by accepting, you would definitely be considered a Frugal Charlie. However I will add that if you are pleased with her performance then hopefully you'll show your appreciation in the morning with a nice tip and taxi fare. I prefer to b/f the girls early in the evening around 7 to 8PM because their not tired and I like to go out on a date with them before I bed them down. Way more times then not the girls LOVE it to be treated like a women and not a piece of meat.
Standard price, some girls will quote 3 to 5K or 2K. Like it or not I have a budget that has to make it thru 14 nights. The girls who want 2K to 5K I don't take. Remember this is a business deal. I tell the girls what I can pay and it's up to them to decide if they want to go with me. I don't twist anyones arm, remember I like to b/f early it up to them if they want to see if a better business deal comes there way. The standard price as you call it may be 1500 to 2K today but the standard may raise to 2.5K++ in the near future if you guys overpay. The Thai minium wage is 150 per day. You guys want to pay 10 days wages for less then 2 hours s/t. If you want to pay western prices for a women stay home because soon enough you will be paying that here.

I agree with cmore on most points made in his post. His attitudes about holidays are the same as mine. I'm on holiday to forget about every day problems. My only goal is to have fun and to make sure everybody I come in contact with leaves with a smile. I'm very choosey and only pick girls that I would have as a GF and treat them as GF. So I expect the GF experience in return. If they return the experience and she is fair to me. I am generious with her. You know what these girls are risking their lives to a deadly illness to support their families. Life is not always fair, this breaks my heart what these girls have to do to survive. So to see them give me a heartfelt wai and leave with a smile, makes me feel even better than the sex. As far as paying and tipping everybody should be compensated fairly, that's what you expect in your work. Again it comes back to KARMA!

These girls are not risking there lives to a deadly disease as long as they use condoms. I agree that paying the girls a fair price is more then reasonable. I'm not willing to overpay and over pay to me is paying almost western prices. I have a hard time understanding guys comming over and driving prices thru the roof. I can see the day comming when guys will say, why pay the airfare and hotel to Thailand as the prices are almost what I pay in the USA. I can get a short time her in Philly for $100. When you guys push the standard price to 3K s/t. I and many other guys might as well stay home as the cost will equal out and I wont have the long plane ride (29 hrs) to deal with.

I have three simple rules;
1) If they ask, "How much you give me," I walk away.
2) Never discuss money, just pay them after; 500b/1000b from beer bar, or 1000b/1500b gogo.
3) IF I violate rule #2, the answer I expect to hear is, "Up to you," or the above prices. Anything else, and I pass. Well, usually.

I agree condoms donot provide 100% protection but close enough that the risk is very small. IMHO the risk is higher she will be in moto accident before she gets hiv.
