Sounds like too long for Thailand to be the suspect.
The USA is not a secure place for credit card use.
Thank God the credit card companies swallow the fraud by and large as part of their margin.

Credit card faud is very easy... unfortunately. Especially with people using on the internet.
Yeah, so you send you c.c information via a secure sockets layer (SSL), but it's what the company does on their end. I've seen some companies house the information in a.txt file. That's crazy since anyone at the company might have access and voila' credit card theft.
anyways, a friend had his c.c stolen from a hotel. it was that carbon thing. so, I always ask for carbon, plus the c.c slip and tear it up myself and throw it away at the airport.
As for cash, I pay everything with cash. easier and when it's out of hte pocket, I have a good idea what 'ive spent. whereas with the c.c's when you get home and see the bill, makes you wonder what you were thinking... or not thinking!! ha ha ha!!
my advice is just carry cash and pay with cash.
