i don't know what the rates are, but they aren't enough to make saving money here worthwhile.
I automatically transfer 150,000 baht a month to my Citibank online deposit account based in Australia. It costs 400 baht to do that (from Bangkok Bank), but it's worth it because the Australian account pays me 5.4%. Lovely jubbly.

Would you mind posting a few details on such an account. I'm in the States and that rate is certainly attractive.
I would never dream of putting my hard earned saving in a developing country. Don't know if that is the right classification for LOS. I remember the high interest that Mexico offered at one time. Attracted a lot of USA cash. Then the peso was reevaluated and folks lost a boat load of money.

The interest rates in New Zealand are even higher than in Australia, you should be able to get 6.5%+ over there the highest in the developed world, and the currency has just reached a new all time high with the US dollar!
