I think that's a cheap shot at TU. You made no mention that you intentionally tried to hurt her.
On face value the girl had many opportunities and pissed them away. You've already paid her many times what she was earning before and she has no one to blame but herself for her current misfortune. Some might view your continued support as just enabling her deluded and impractical lifestyle (and inflated opinion of herself).
From my understanding, Thai men in sponsorship relationships will honor their relationships for a period of time after the relationship has ended.
I don't recall the circumstances of your breakup, but I think the circumstances of the breakup would determine what support you are expected to provide. I don't think any Thai guy would continue to support a mia noi if she broke up with him, or if he found her cheating on him. If the guy finds someone younger and prettier and decides to end the relationship (and the girl has kept up her side of the deal) then he should keep in mind the financial hardship that she might be under.

No you continue to believe the western culture that the man has to continue to pay and pay as in alimony payments which does not exist here in Thailand as a concept yet.
Such despair! (as stated you as still making her car and living expenses), I guess she could not afford the latest in Prada shoes. A good reason to start on drugs huh?Always the white knight we farangs are and then we put the burden on ourselves that we caused these problems therefore must be responsible for them. Oh well, it is called personal responsability.
What about the TG who struggles through college, works hard gets two degrees and is happy to make 50K THB per month. Now there is someone I respect, in fact I just hired her. Now this girl is hot enough to be an club dancer, but chose a hard career path and a more respectable one. This does not mean I do not treat them (BG's) as human beings, but don't expect me to believe their job as dancer at Orbitz is respectable.
You are looking for respect in the Thai community for ending a sponsership of a bar girl, abeit high-end bar girl, but bar girl none the less. I think that is ironic.
I would make the recommendation to her that the Carribean is hiring.
But your basic question is an interesting one and I am going to talk to some people I know to find out the answer. My guess would be once a TG continues to be of use to a Thai Guy they severe all ties and everyone ignores it and do not talk about it to "save face"
But I do know that they do not take anything back i.e. gifts and such and the cars are used paid off in full and not on a payment plan.

I really have no idea about the percentage. I think it is more a matter of how "different" the man and the girl are. I mean, the more distant in the social ladder he is from her, the more the age difference is, the more likely he is to stand by her economically for a somehow longer period.
Of importance is also how they break up. If he is the one who gives up because he got tired of her, the more likely he will stick to helping her. If she leaves him or she finds another new rich boyfriend, then the guy likely will stop any support. I know of girl's that lie about having a new boyfriend jusy because they do not want the old one to know as she is now receiving a grant from the former.
How long? I have seen many cases. Some just for a few months, some even for a couple of years.
And the most interesting one, the wife gives a job to the the guy's toy-girls, once he finishes the relationship. Yes. The wife feels sorry for the girl that gave so much joy to her husband. She then offers them a job in the husband's headquarters -where the wife also works. That company has the nicest best looking secretaries I have seen in Bangkok. Talk about a nice wife. All the former mia-luks become a family under the wing of the maternal wife.
Young guys tend to help for a short time -if at all.
One thing they all do is reduce the amount given. After a couple of months, they reduce the amount. It makes no sense to pay her in full, or else the girl has no incentive to look for a job or for another sponsor.
