Its the shopping around stuff that I have the problem with!
"Oh no you are much too expensive, I am going back to 'X' bar 'cause she was THB200 cheaper."

Bollocks!

If I see one I like, then money becomes a lesser consideration, within reason of course.
I suppose its the "within reason" that is everyones sliding scale?

Once the "old one eyed man" takes over, I become putty in their hands.
But I really do understand that paying more does not always mean getting more, just that I can be a picky bastard.

Anyway, in answer to the question, THB10,000 for a few months, but I know well that sponsorship NEVER gives exclusivity. Not if she stays in BKK anyway, and abolutlyf_ckingnever if she stays in the bar!

I agree.

People that are thinking about sponsorhing should understand that sponsorship in it's self does not guarantee anything more then money leaving one account to another.

And if she's still at the bar, then there is no way that one can expect her not to "sleep" with other patrons. And why in the world would she still be at the bar or club anyways working if she's getting sponsored??

Sponsorship should only be considered as an 'invitation to treat' - to quote UK consumer law. It is an offer, an intention, but does not bind either party. It shows that you are prepared to make some commitment. It does not mean that the girl is your property & people should understand that before they commit.
I am against forcing any girl to leave the bar, return to her province or whatever just because I give her money. She has to decide for herself what she wants. I think we often approach this from the wrong side. We should start by asking what she wants & then decide whether that is in line with our beliefs and whether it is then appropriate for us to support her. We should not be using sponsorship as a control measure.

i look at it more as business deal with conditions, most time conditions being that she stops working, at least as a BG.

most guys set up their gals at a hairdresser's shop.

if I was to go around giving cash to every cutie for nothing expected in return i'd be penniless already...

We are all different. I am not comfortable being in a 'relationship' with a girl whose loyalty may be primarily based on money. Perhaps I am still young enough (39) to believe that they may actually like me for who I am rather than my wallet. I am not against supporting a TG but the money has to be a secondary consideration. I can not get my head around this Thai culture "I will grow to love you". If there is no initial attraction then the relationship will not grow - it may survive but, as you say, it becomes a business arrangement. This is fine if that is what the two people are comfortable with - just not for me, unfortunately.
Who knows, in ten years time my attitude may have changed.

I agree 100%!!

Just so we're clear. I'm not talkin' about forcin' me to leave, but IMO: the reason the female wants to be sponsored is so she does not have to work. So, if the sponsorship amount covers her expenses I've not meat one that has gone back to work just to work.

We should start by asking what she wants & then decide whether that is in line with our beliefs and whether it is then appropriate for us to support her.

Which is what I did. I talked her with countless times with a translator so we could understand one another.

After understand what she wanted in her life, then sponsorship was discussed.

We should not be using sponsorship as a control measure.

Yup. The females are not items, but people.

I suggest that you skip Thailand as this is most always the case. I think Philippine girls have a culture and attitude more condusive to your beliefs. You will only be disappointed in what Thailand has to offer. Either accept the culture as it stands or learn to accept disappointment in your attempt to make it conform to your beliefs.

I have to strongly disagree here. I don't think this type "loyalty - primarily based on money" attitude is culturaly based.

What is culturally based IMO is their warm and friendly attitude....... and I'm speakin' ingeneral of Thai people and not just females.

I believe it may be more of an occupational attitude then a Thai attitude.

This is just like when people "lump" all females that live live in the West as "Westernized".

So, I also disagree with the Philippine girls statment as well.

Just try driving here to experience that warm and friendly attitude.

This week's Stickman's column discusses this money attitude at length across all social levels.

I blame in part the social system of Thailand where there is no social safety net to catch any people and provide them with basic food and medicine. The 30 THB medical program is a joke and without either insurance or cash you will be left out to die.

It is no wonder priority becomes finding someone who will take responsibility to support you.

We may agree to disagree, but for the most part that is the way I see things here.
