I will admit that offering her a better life was the major reason for sponsorship. I felt badly that she did not have a chance to have a "normal western civilization" life. Was that the right was to think?? Probably not. I should not have assumed that taking her out the prostitution environment, giving her a chance to live more comfortably, and to change her dress and looks would make much of a change, especially in attitude. A tiger is still a tiger even if it does not have its strips any more. I believe now that in order to truly help them, the female has to go to counseling and also to a group the offers some sort of training to help them learn a different skill.
I agree with Griffin that making them live within a respectable income level for the new job they will be doing also is a must. I thought of it in the other way. Provide them will all the opportunities so that they can succeed and that would motivate them to make changes to their lives. In my case, that was the wrong move. It just showed her a life that she would not have unless she married wealthy or went back to work.
But, what is doing is done. I think that Juniper and myself have open some eyes to the amount some females are sponsored, regardless of what they say.

Scary to say, but I think that 1 out of 10 number might still be too high!! Interesting point that I never thought about though. These females get the money and then end up with a Thai man because now she has monetary items that attract them, as well as looks.

I've noted my somewhat jaded comments on someone else's thread, but I can't help but interject here again. The stories of trying to change these girls and have them focus on a more positive, better life is not something new. In fact, it's been written about throughout the ages, was made popular by Shaw over a hundered years ago in 'The Pygmalian' and brought to Hollywood in many versions, 'Pretty Woman' being the most well known where Richard Gere tames 'working girl' Julia Roberts....But as we know all too well, what's in novels and movies are not what we find as recurring themes in this forum.
It's one thing to "feel" sympathetic and wanting to help,(I myself would be lying if I didn't admit that at one time or another I wanted to "fix things" to make it right). ÝBut it's quite another to actually act them out and become a sponsor, long term "boyfriend" (your figleaf), sugar daddy, patron or whatever the hell you call it....
Because in the end fellas, what it boils down to is unavoidable spreading of the word among the savvy working TG's that all foreigners (not just the western kind) have weaknesses they can exploit - and all at our expense (literally). ÝAnd what that means is that you will even have some TG's whom you're beginning to take a little shine to complaining that YOU don't take care of them as much as their friend's foreign patron etc. Ý(This is a TRUE story)!
It's this kind of word of mouth which will in the end, kill the enjoyment of the chase and fun for the rest of us. ÝWhen the girls start to see you as a walking checkbook or a cash register, where does that leave the rest of us who are in it for the short haul and just for the thrill of it???
I can tell you that since I began traveling to/from Bangkok in the mid-90's to present, there's been a gradual shift in the attitudes of a lot more of the working TG's than previously. ÝAlot of that country town innocence is gone/lost. Why? Because even the girls from Issam and Changrai etc. are told well in advance, while still in their villages, from friends and relatives working in BangkokÝthat the chances of finding a fat money pot via hooking a "sympathetic" and often unsuspecting foreigner is easier than trying to snag a job at a city department store or waiting tables.......
I don't begrudge any brothers what they want to do with their hard earned money etc., but instead of commisserating over past foibles, I do hope that we ALL follow lessons learned and don't walk down the same paths..... To do so, would be raising the stakes even higher for those of us who don't want and never have had intentions of becoming a working girl's benefactor......

Hopefull my last thought on this subject. Why would a girl give up all the money once she's done the deed a few dozen (hundred) times? If she does finish school will that get her a job with anywhere near comparible income...I think not! If she is older (read as 25+) when she finishes school it will be too late...read the want ads that say such things as "under 30".
Life just isn't westernized is it?

I think there must be another lesson to be learnt here. And that is money alone does not solve problems. If you want to get a girl out of her current situation, then one should also equip her with another skill or show her another way that would enable her to earn a decent living (on her own perhaps). She is going to need a lot of motivation and emotional support for this. She will also need to improve on other skills that are still lacking. Show her how she can use her head to make money rather than just the pussy. The main reason they are in this business is the lack of knowledge, and it seems so easy for them to sell pussy for money, no degree required. If you can't spend that kind of time with the girl, then don't spend the money. Money helps, but it is not the solution to her problem.
