Cash cash cash. All these credit card scams crop up because these types don't have the balls to literally take your money.
I've been a victim of my own jetlag and left my ATM card in a machine TWICE! Not proud of that, but it's true. The European ATMs give you your card back first, so you can put it away before your money comes out. My muscle memory must have taken over when I saw the cash come out as I took the money and ran to Eden Club.
Now I bring an envelope full of cash that stays in the hotel safe. I withdraw my maixmum 2 or 3 times a trip from the ATM, keep 5000 baht max on me and put the rest in the safe.
By limiting the number of trips to the ATM, I limit the number of chances to forget my card. If I do forget it. lose it or have it stolen, I have my remaining baht and my envelope full of Benjamins to fall back on.

Hhmmm... never encountered the problem before but got my card cloned one way or another in Thailand recently. Bank reacted well as they called me on a public holiday to advise that someone tried to buy for 1080euros worth of goods on November 11th in some Thailand based hardware store with it... not cool as the genuine card was in my wallet... I blocked the card straightaway but had to wait until this morning to learn that the payment hadn't been authorised... will spare me the hassle to try and convince whoever concerned that I wasn't the one using that card while also beeing in LOS at that moment, but really no idea where they could clone the card as I rarely ever use it.
Could that be the ugly fat lao secretary who resigned last week after she noticed nobody in the office was clueless enough to do her except possibly with a sharp but northeastern friendly leather wrapped chainsaw?
Who knows in this ruthless world ? Very confused right now as I had just decided to carry less cash around after getting so invariably wasted and losing mobiles and banknotes out of my pockets when hitting the clubs - happened at least three times in the last few weeks...
Talk about a heartbreaking dilemna... can only hope the worn out whores tonight in Spasso will be able to show me the light before this upcoming weekend of intense mourning ?
