This is a one wasy market to kill the dollar, when the other side of the trade shows up to play, there will be aq strong reversal...... and the other side of the trade is a joint intervention by majore central banks to recoup their dollar losses...... this will play out just as I stated....

one-way traded markets are not healthy. All the fed has to do is get with the other G7 and they all gang up and buy a shitload of dollars.... the hedge funds will fear that move...... it would cllapse a whole lot of them...... the only one happy with a weak dollar is th eu.s.... the rest of the countries that buy our debt and sell export products to us HATE this situation. ALL u.s. exporters love a weak dollar......

The US is a next exporter of rice Mel, so American Farmers do not give a shit.
Try wheat and beef. Aussie Beef has disappeared from the markets in Japan and Singapore to be replaced with cheaper US beef. In the UK and EU it is South American Beef (most ranches owned by Americans) that is the beef of choice.
And wheat, check out the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and try to tell me differently that Aussie and Canadian wheat exports are doing well.
Of course since you are a fledgling rice farmer you can not see beyond your own fields.
It is in fact the current policy of the US to let the dollar drop until China revalues the Yuan. The US threatened the Chinese with this last year and it appears that the US will continue with this policy until the Chinese crack.
It really does not hurt the US consumer, helps US businesses, and irritates the hell out of the rest of the world as oil is priced in USD; a winning policy all around.
As for me I really do not give a damn as I am being paid in GBP...

Let's start with some "common ground". I agree that the USA is not fighting the devaluation of its dollar and also agree that is because of China, in fact if you look back a few pages I stated that several times.
My example of rice was just an example of how Australia can be competetive even with a our huge dissadvantages ( very little water).

Yes, Japan imported 27,864 Tonnes of Aussie beef in August this year,,, and US beef,,, 3,996 Tonnes so AUSTRALIA still has some 700% more beef entering Japan than the USA. Now lets get that into perspective, with Australia having a population of approx. 20 Million and the USA 301 Million, Australia exports some 10,500% more beef per head of population to Japan than the USA.

Check out the current sales on the Mercantile Exchanges. American Beef was banned that year in much of Asia due to a Canadian calf with Mad Cow disease that was sold to an American herd.
With the return of American beef to Asia however Aussie beef is being out-priced. Let's check the figures next year and see what is on top.
With the continued strength of the Aussie dollar they will continue to have to fight price pressures from the US and South America.
Whilst the Aussie import policies will keep the home market strong the only way that Australian Farmers will be able to compete internationally is to cut prices and profit margins in a market where the strong Aussie dollar is pushing up costs.
Not rocket science Mel, the exact thing happened to the US from the late 1970's through the 1980's. The solution of course is for Aus to allow their currency to drop so they can maintain their competitiveness but I expect that the Aussies are too prideful to do that...

ROFLMAO,, this from a Chinaman,,,isn't it China refusing to float it's currency that is the number 1 problem in the world economy? It refuses to allow the world market to determine the correct rate.
Australia is not SO PRIDEFUL ??,, our dollar is determined by market rate for decades,, WE do not attached our rate to another currency.
Beef from ARGENTINA etc is a good competitor,, please do NOT mark them as South American so as to not confuse what is and what is NOT actually American ( as in USA)
The FACT, yes FACT remains that the Australian beef exports to Japan where in FACT over 700% more than those from the USA in September 2007,, 2007 !!! No Canadian mad cow desease excuses,, no currency exchange excuses,,, just a SUPERIOR product at a better price.
