True Alan but there is acruch coming forthe USA aswell as Australia. Yes it's good to have near full employment BUT that puts pressure on inflation.Inflation has been kept in check falsely,by cheap products coming out of China ( actual home inflation has been soaring,,coffee,petrol etcetc but has been masked by the imported Chinese goods).
Now Chinese wages have gone up 15% just this year,so unlikely to keep the inflation pressure off.
As for the French economy,,,,I gotta laugh, how can they expect to make money when they support their over-priced underefficient products. I read how each cow in France is subsidised by the Frech governemnt enough to have a world trip each year,,TIME to wake up
, if your no good at cattle, let someone else do that and you do what you are good at. Unfortunately for the French, they don't seem to be that good at many things. Better,cheaper wines now come out of severaql countries, same for cheese etc. Maybe they will get lucky and Vietnam will colonize them

The only thing the French are good at is making tires, and most Michelin plants are located outside of France these days (many in the US).

Agreed Michelin are a good tyre,,,,,have used them in the
past but now use Continental,,,no idea where they are from ( assume of Euro origin of course).
What are the French going to do ???
Even "truffles" are beginning to pour out of Australia.
And how long can they keep tourists coming jut tosit under an over-sized radio tower that they name Eiffel,,,
or a badly buil ttower that istryingtofall down.
Actually looking at the tats, France is doing ok in exporting machinery / aircraft etc,,,,BUT with mooves to produce the airobus in Alabama andalso thoughts of the French Dassualt moving production outside Europe,,,things will change fast.AHH forgot to mention the A320 manufacturing plant in China is well underway.
Scary times ahead.

I just wanted to throw down something that happened at dinner tonight...no bashing dubya or anything just something that happened regarding the current dollar decline...
I was having dinner with mrs atl and looking at the travel section and as the bartender was refreshing my wine said to mrs atl "can you believe the f***ing dollar is 30 to the baht? and look its.60 to the euro now!"
the bartender is pouring my wine and says "is that bad?"
she is mid 30's (I know her) and I say thats horrible and mrs atl says "yes not good"
anyway, she says, "I thought our economy is strong."
I say this is embarrasing how low our dollar is compared to other currencies...
say what you will about import/export but travelling is way expensive for us yanks...
I guess my point is that most dont really care but us yanks that spend time abroad are really taking up the ass with no lube and it sucks....and to boot nobody seems to be bringing that up in political discussions...
am I in the wrong to be pissed that my holidays must be bugeted by how low the dollar is? even the brazilian real is almost equal to the dollar...after looking there is no currnency that we are strong against..and it sucks..
it wont change anytime soon but I hope by my next trip it is back up a bit...and mrs atl always asks me "tilac, when go up again my money I send back is horrible."
just an observation...and this does suck major..
I know more impotant issues are at hand but it sucks the dollar is so weak...

I think the President mentioned your plight to the Chinese recently, that he too would like you to go abroad, but the Chinese didn't want you either and refused to adjust the yuan!
I think it comes down to these "impotant issues" you mention... I had always understood there could be no issue if there's impotency involved. But does it change if they are at hand?

thats exactly what I read in the Bangkok Post about a month ago, the American tourist's spending in Asia has become so insignificent that even if it went to zero it won't be missed, aside from the $ losing 20% against in the baht in the last 18 months, plane fare way up too, Alt, as a fellow American we've just got to hope we don't lose our jobs, so far no problem to vacation twice a year, but retirement in LOS may not be possible, looking at the big picture, is soon the the Chinese will rule the world, (if they don't already at least economically) how f..ked up is that!?!
