I just re-read my post from last evening...and it does come across as narcissistic considering that I am bitching about my vacation woes and there are so many others that wish they had this delima.....
but I still think it sucks..and am sure many other americans here do as well and the poor guys living abroad on pensions are really taking it the up ass with no lube lol!
I can add one segment that this is incredibly advantageous to is the many european (germans seem to lead the pack) investors that are buying up buildings all over the US taking advantage of the euro....
anyway, I hope that it doesnt keep declining..as wheels up in May....

thats a funny picture....add in the men swiging loa cow and of course there would be a woman with a fried bug cart selling crickets and so forth for the protesters..
I posed this question last year before my trip and the baht was at 34.5 and dropping..do any finance savy guys have any advice on buying baht now as opposed to waiting until May????
I cant believe I am thinking to myself as I post this...I wish it were 34.5

you are correct and I might opt for checking out Vietnam for this years vacation... but the little lady needs to see mom, dad, and the family in nakon sawan and I need to get my rocks off with the mates I had when I lived there (although that crowd is dwindiling away as several have moved back to farangland)....
so whatever the baht is I am in... even though it sucks...I am still excited with anticipation of May...
regarding past baht rates...as sringsteen put it

actually, to be honest, I would still have gone as long as the baht/usd rate stayed above 30.
for my 2008 trip, my breaking point remains the same. not much cushion as it's now at 30.35.

Pulled 20k out of the ATM today and it posted on my bank account as a $599.27 charge which works out to a rate of 33.37
I don't understand why everyone cares about the offshore rate of 30. Do you change out your dollars/euros and convert to thai baht before coming to Thailand????

No Mel is just trying to find a rate to prove is predicition by year's end. No one gives a crap about the offshore rate.
Curious what bank you are using, I got a rate of 33.56 using my Wells Fargo ATM.
