sure you are right the girls i was sponsoring were not in the ugly category and i do have to admit their was also a lot of selfishness in it, as for securing a particular girl for myself for a while. but on the other hand still far much better than keeping them stupid without any chance or perspective for another life especially at an age when they are not that young and attractive anymore!
sure i am not a saint but giving them this opportunity is still far better as just exploiting them for nothing, as long as you have fun with them as so many other local expats do with their tgf!

Say Jumping Jack, I sponser a girl in school. She is not ugly and she is young (19) . I never had any type of sexual relationship with her (although the idea is sound). I just met her, liked her, found her to be extremly smart and also found that she was willing to return home and go to school for a measly 3,000 baht per month. Also willing to send receipts, student ID, phone numbers of the school, etc so that I could be assured that she was, in fact, attending. So far so good. Good for you - I have also done something simular. ÝI used to drink on a regular bases in a non BG bar in the south I got to know the (married) owner very well
One of her friends had 2 kids and her husband had recently died. ÝWe decided to sponser her children Boy 6 and girl 8.
The bar owner sponsered 1 and I the other. Ýit was small money and I got a lot of pleasure from getting there school reports that my friend would translate for me.
It stopped when the Mother got herself sorted out and said that she wished the sponsership to stop now she was OK
In general I am not over enthralled with Thai people but occasionally you can meet some real Ji Dee people
i am playing devils advocate here. ÝI am sure there are many that try to help for genuine reasons. ÝI just feel that sometimes people are just paying for a regular F**K or wanting to feel "The big Man" and then bullshitting others (or maybe themselves) that this is done in a good cause
I just wondered if anyone wanted to own up to it (well done Griffin)

Has anyone experienced taking a Thai GF out of the country and sponsoring her college education while she is abroad? I'm starting to think ahead about 1.5-2 years and this is an option I'd like to consider.

you can get a student Visa, but she would need to have completed secondary school locally at least, or alternatively you would have to go for a Fiance visa .. and they take about 6 months to get approved for the US, - one advantage if I return to the native NZ, the government allows wives of NZ citizens to go to school for free !

Well TPE, the average middle class executive doesn't owe a loan with the family's only piece of property/deed as the collateral at 10-20% interest.
That'll wipe out most income of many working girls.

started sponsoring a mother (actually a kid herself) and her child, I ended up with half of the town on my payroll, then overreacted again and cut it all off, stpped back from any kind of support to anybody, and now slowly back in the social security game, after all how much does it take to make one of them happy for a whole month, the bill of a night at q-bar?, still worth it, both
