Was speaking to a lass in a bar in Phuket last night and she used to work at the chemists in soi 4 opposite Nana and she told me she earned 4500 baht a month and had quit her job and come to Phuket to try and make some money .She told me she had only been there 3 days and was down to her last 100 baht. I think i believed her.She seemed very fresh and innocent but I have been fooled before. Besides i was looking for something more experienced and dirtier which i found gyrating on a pole in a bar a couple of hours later and was not disappointed.
But 4500 baht a month is really slave labour.

Minimum wage here in Chonburi is 165bht per day.
Take that times 24 working days (Mon thru Sat) and you get 3,960 baht gross. Then they have to pay taxes on that also.
Most of the production people working at my company make this wage.

Ok, in the very beginning of this thread, the subject was the salary's level of a normal working girl......
Not to boast myself or any other persona, but just for a general information, my wife, a working thai manager earns an avarage of 65,000baht per month, divided in 36,000baht basic salary (includin allowances) + commissions on the total sales of her "slaves" (so I call the poor bastards under her!).....gotta say ain't no bad at all.......a rare case in LOS?

65,000bht is a good salary but not exceptional at the senior manager level, especially if most of it is from commissions. Good managers in big Thai companies and banks reach easily the 40,000-50,000bhts level after some years of service. Some make much more and most foreign companies are paying the Thai executives quite well also.
My company even used to pay the secretary (after 12 years with us) 45,000 baths a month! Was a bit extreme and she was laid off by the new manager.
But if you are an educated, clever and hard working Thai you can make relatively good money working for a corporate. This is what? Maybe 5% of the working population?

65000 baht is a good salary for a local in Thailand but it would take a lot more than that to entice a western professional to move to Thailand.
It is still not really a lot of money.
anything less than 300,000 a month plus benefits would not be enough to entice me to move despite the obvious side benefits and i am not really a big earner by comparison with many others that i know.

I pay my maid 6,500 baht per month and 1,000 baht additional for fixed OT. This includes her accomodation and food. For that I get all cleaning, washing, ironing and child care services included 6 days per week. It might not seem like alot but at her last employer she was earning 4,500 for the same duties!
