When this post started (a few years ago now) I see the rate was 42 Baht to the US dollar
You really have to start questioning 'Am I really getting a good deal' from the lovely ladies of LOS..their rates haven't exactly dropped 25%, like the value of the dollar. Maybe it's time to explore options in other countries?

This is such a tired argument, though invariably advanced by folks that must be seriously short on cash (or so it seems).
Dollar for Dollar, I am still getting a better deal in LOS, on nearly everything - but what I am really paying for, is the convenience, the attitude - in short, the experience.
Different people seek different criteria, certainly - so I am sure Cambodia, Laos, or Vietnam may provide better value propositions to them - that's your choice.
For me, the value in LOS is intrinsically more than just the raw dollar/baht costs of the girls.

for a vacation still not a problem, but to take up full time residence with inflation & dollar devaluation continually getting worse you have a good case tezza, thinking more about bringing a lady to farangland as trying to live in LOS on a fixed income is now for the very well off, providing you want the company of a variety of ladies

Spending $4.40 for a pack of cigs (in CA) is not likely to help your financial situation.

DD and Don have points,
In regards to my vacation I am a bit down...but it is a vacation and I wont let it spoil it...but as we began our home building in 2005 it is very much on hold..
If I am dropping 100K US I will wait it out and see if I can a better bang for my buck down the road...
DD is correct, if you cant afford it dont be like the guy at nana hotel on my last trip arguing with the front desk people over 15 bucks
