expat,, don't go throwing rai's in amongst imperial / metric measurement arguments.
Actually I would guess quite close as I know I have 14.2 rai in Isaan and it just under 6 acres
When it comers to land I must admit I still think in acres ( Aus changed over to metric in the early seventies).
I'd give more detail about the difficulties in coinversion but that would upset the ones who love to follow, then attack me

I once had an engineering professor explain in a lecture that after he finished his PhD research project he realized that it was completely invalid because he used different precisions in his measurements, and the experiment was only accurate to the precision of the lowest number of significant digits. Therefore 14.2 Rai is the same as 5.61 Acres and not 5.6142343 Acres.

Please let me know when a country that uses the metric system exclusively is smart enough to launch a space telescope into orbit, and to fix it in space via software because the mirror was not ground correctly.
It is common misconception that the metric system is not used in the US. It is used along with the imperial system.
If you go to a 7-11 in the US to get a Coca-Cola, you will find a 16 oz. bottle, and a one liter bottle, of the exact same brand bottled by the same bottling plant.
