KK, im no pro, but im told the airport has some of the best rates around.... i'd go for it...
if not almost any bank has an exchange out front, in BKK anyhow

Guys, while the exchange rates at the airport are better than the hotels, they suck in comparison to the numerous currency exchanges scattered throughout the city that are run by the banks. All of them will beat the rates at the airport. Just take a walk along Sukhumvit and you'll find tons of these currency exchanges with their rates plastered in plain sight for all to see. I now travel only with US$100 notes/bills as these give the best possible rates. If you feel the need for added security, then bring travelers checks. But remember to bring your passport with you each time you cash those checks.

The Oanda site is alright, but those numbers are somewhat deceptive and is not the "true" rate that you will get at the currency exchanges. This site, as an example, is by Thai Farmers Bank and shows you the actual exchange rate that you will get when you visit one of their branches. Other Thai banks have similar sites.

Fully agree with your suggestion.
Oanda gives the interbank rates, not the actual exchange rate we will receive at our banks.
Eventhough it is a good site to follow the rates.
As said before, just walking along Sukhumvit will give you a good idea about the best rates.
Normally go to my own, BOA, bank, the times that I thought that I could change better somewhere else and appearred with B1000.000 in small bills.....
The waiting time makes up for the small advantage you might get.
The greenback is getting stronger, with my arrival in a short time....good thing!

another great link to calculate the value of any currency with any currency of this planet is found at http://www.bloomber.com and then look for the currency calculator. Large amount 5000 K (USD, EURO, GBP, SFR) I wouldnt change at the currency exchange booths, but inside the bank, negotiations for better rates are possible, but have a well sounding reason for carrying that much cash in mind, they will ask.

and once more, hve received interbank rates, and real notes at the bad reputed "black market" through a friend, but only 100 notes. I am sure there s such a friend in everybodies reach
