Reality check guys. Okay, who here believes that you leave BKK, send money back to "your" Thai girl here in Thailand, and she stops working at the bar and having sex with other guys???
My male friends and I who live here in BKK have a term for you guys to learn. We call it "house sitting." While you guys are back in your home country sending her money here, we are having sex with "your" girls and they are spending your money on us.
"You pay the rent (the girl) and we live in your house" is the joke. Sad, but true. We all are in our 20's and 30's, work or have businesses here in BKK, and speak a relatively decent amount of Thai. You guys are usually older and totally naive about what is going on or in denial. Don't say you don't care that she is spending you money on us and sleeping with us, you just can't do anything about it. We even sometimes write her emails to you for her. We know how to write like a Thai girl in broken English, it is real easy (I miss you too much darling) and these girls laugh when they make fun of you. These girls are just a lot for fun for us and for the most part, they seek us out at clubs or other places. They see us as fun, knowledgeable about local custom and language, and often younger than the "sponsor" in most situations. The girls joke about how we know too much about how BKK works (......not good, you know too much!)
So, you send her money so you can have a companion every two or three months that you come here, what a waste of money. Go to a popular Internet cafe like the one in Patpong by Surawong road (about 100 meters form KFC, same side) and see the entire cafe full of girls sending "hello darling" emails.
Guys, do not send these girls a penny (baht). If they do this to you then they are not worth it. These girls are sharks and very good at it.
Bottom line, they will not quit what and who they are. Twenty some years of Thai cultural programming is not going to change because some farang waltzes into her life one day.
You can hate what I am writing but in a place that does not value honesty or integrity unless it makes you a buck, reality often sucks.

somtimes the truth hurts. I know a girl who takes ME out to dinner when she gets her monthly sponcership or that should be 'shipS' and she gives the rest to her friends.
I can't remember the amount of times I've been told 'yea but this one is different' then they have a good laugh when the bloke flies home, and good luck to the girls for doing this I say.
They are very good at making any man at any moment in time, feel like he is the only one. This is all very good buisness sense for them and it works bloody well.
The bottom line is come the Thailand and have a bloody good time and a bloody good laugh with these girls then go home and remember it as that, a bloody good time.
Or fall in love first time and send loards of money, cause there are loads of people here who will spend it!!

Don't feel bad fogies. There are plenty of young people who fall head over heels over wallet over email also. You'd be surprised (or not) at the number of English teachers here who end up with bar girls and pretty much end up locked in a life with a prostitute, someone else's children, their children, and trying to support everyone (some of her relatives included) for 30-50 k Baht a month with "How are you? I am fine. How is work? It is fine" dreams for the rest of their lives.

If we were all honest, ethical and moral it would be pretty boring. It really doesn't bother me a bit that most guys like you end up being sad, pathetic losers with no real friends or loved ones. I admit that saying that sponsorship is like ownership is very cynical statment and that a better word might be exclusive contract. But ... I do belieave that after reading many posts, that some members do think of it closer to ownership then exclusive contract. Which there might be a thin, grey line between the two.
Either way, no more sponsorship for me. I can't dedicate the time for the female being sponsored and I also don't think that I would be helping out her life by sponsoring her. Now ... that is a general statment that ofcourse if the right situation came about I might assist the female. But .... no monthly allowance or cash flow from me.
And ... for the record, I am one that thinks that if you are going to sponsor .. especially .... larger amounts, then having a P.I check into things is a must. There are many good ones out there, but there are also some very bad ones that can and will seperate a person from their money over time.

The reality is that few and only very few sponsored b-girls/GG-girls/MP girls/Club hostesses and the like will remain loyal to the sponsor while he is abroad....and the hard time comes to many guys when the alarm clock is on after a while and they have to wake up facing the reality with empty hands, a thin wallet and a broken heart....

So, am I an "asshole" because I spoke the truth??? I know the game just as well as anyone here....and that is bad/wrong?
I really like your self proclaimed "If we were all honest, ethical and moral it would be pretty boring" and yet you are in a Bangkok forum discussing prostitution ("Im doing research for a book" Pete 'pedophile' Townsend, 2003). Don't hate the playa', hate the game! Revisit my post and you will see I mention we see them as "fun" and never even suggested there was any long term possibilities with these girls. They never take the place of a respectable, decent girl of which there are many here in BKK.
You can also see where I spoke about people being able to come to BKK NOT just for the sex industry in an upcoming documentary special about BKK to be aired on a major cable channel.
Your comments about their integrity are all true. This is the reality of it, we are not living in a false bubble like the "sponsor."
Oh, I wasn't just saying it was only the older folks who are getting taken. The younger guys are also pretty gullible.

Well there's lot's of truth in MX31's post. I could tell MANY tales of my days as a "house-sitter" (to use his term) and I've had many of the same thoughts in those days.
It's not so much the message but the messenger or perhaps only the "form" of the message. I dson't really know how to put into words without seeming to attack someone I don't know and at the moment I can't be bothered to try and figure out how to -- so I shan't. Oother than to say the posts were awfully superior in tone and even a bit insulting -- unecessarily so.

Yep...been there MX31.....it's great isn't it...of course when the sponsor winds up finding out he's wasting his time...these great friends of yours may ask you for money then to pay back some of the good times....What do you do then?.....be a friend and get sucked in....or incur the wrath and get outcast from your beautiful scene.....LOL...think they won't turn on you?
I have no need to sponsor or to accept the benefits.....self sufficiency is best all round.....

MX31 was not very subtle in his message but what he says is true.
Most BG are not poor little things waiting to be rescued by nice farangs. Many are even cynical bitches when it comes to their "sponsors".
I don't blame them, if they can get the money they play the game. But any sponsor should know about it. And don't think your girl is special and so nice she would never do that.
After if the guy can afford it and is happy with it, why not ?
Like lottery tickets, you keep losing and you keep buying...
But with BGs you also get laid from time to time so the game is better !
