There was no argument of superiority. The US uses both systems (which many people do not realize), and life seems to go on. Oops, those damn z's again.
NASA has made a lot of mistakes, and the one you mentioned is not even near the top of the list. I guess that those countries without a Mars lander or a deep space telescope don't have to worry about making mistakes in their [non-existent] space programs.

I hadn't returned to this thread to see that you posted the stupid email you sent me. Again, I did not censor your free speech. I exercised mine. Sounds like its OK for you to disagree with me but if I disagree with you I am somehow attempting to keep you from speaking your mind. What a fowl thought, pun intended.
Perhaps you would see me as the "ugly American" as you seem to enjoy that overused epitath. I try to be fair and open but get tired of all of the generalizations by so many, yourself included. You aren't teaching me anything about freedom or free speech and I suspect I know the cost of it a lot better than you do.
I don't know why I waste my time because you don't listen to anyone anyway so go peddle your iphones to anyone foolish enough to pay your price.

Yes, I agree that in the short term Bernanke and the Fed could care less about the value of the dollar. Low value means low inflation of imported products etc etc. However, in the medium term, 6-12 months, a decreasing dollar means continued higher energy costs, difficulty for US companies investing abroad and ultimately inflation as energy costs drive so much of the economy. And countries (like Thailand) may like the current cost of an F-16 but hate the fact that to sell frozen chicken they must drop the price. Maybe the baht will not be 40 again soon, but I doubt the prediction of 28 for any sustained period and I bet that one year from now it will be more like 36-38. Of course, if I really new I would be a very rich guy.

Interesting article from the Associated Press. As I have said many times, except for US tourists traveling abroad (but obviously a major concern to many on this forum), the EU is taking a severe beating with the falling US dollar. For example, the unemployment rate in France is almost twice that of the US.
"BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) -- European Union finance ministers open two days of talks Monday to discuss the United States' slowing economy, feeble dollar and massive current account deficit as major problems for the EU and the rest of the world.
Europe is starting to feel the bite as the U.S. dollar plummets, making French wine, Italian fashion and German cars expensive purchases for the EU's main export market in the United States.
Last week, the employers federation BusinessEurope said that, by crossing 1.40 against the U.S. dollar, the euro exchange rate had reached a "pain threshold" for European companies. It also complained the euro was appreciating too fast against the Chinese yuan and Japanese yen."
