... as noted above, I have BKK Bank savings accounts, with an ATM for the THB denominated account... to get Internet access to my accounts, the bank requires a work permit, or MAYBE a retirement visa... I have neither.

Been to Bangkok Bank recently to open an account. They have an account called Non Resident Baht Account for tourists. You can open it by providing a copy of you Passport and another document (Driver's license in home country ). All the tourist visa holders can have this account but only in their Head Office on Silom Road.

Cheers RTB!

I opened this thread to ask if I had a Thai Farmers Bank Account, that I never closed when I moved back to America in 2005, if anyone knew if it was still accessible? I had a work permit back then when selling condo's, but don't now.

However, you gave me another option with K Bank

Kasikorn has even different rules per branch.

I tried to open another account in MBK ground floor and was refused an account with my retirement visa.

Then went upstairs (next to Powerbuy) and had no problem (even no retirement visa required).

It is my experience that a retirement visa is nothing worth if companies require a working permit for some services (like DTAC postpaid).

TFB and KBANK are one and the same, Thai Farmer (Agriculture) = Kasikorn.
The new name of Thai Farmer's Bank is Kasikorn Bank or KBank for short.

if you had a nice balance in there it will still be accessible, but if it was low and the yearly maintenance fees ate up the deposit, it will have been closed.
