Some better news on the horizon re exchange rates. The Mrs read in the Thai news that the Thai government is concerned about the strength of the Baht and it's flow on effects on pricing of Thai products and Tourism.
My only guess is that they may reduced interest rates a few pegs to ease the BAHT back around the US 36-36.5 mark.

Talk about apples and oranges what a spin.

Boeing is selling jets because they can deliver. The airbus may be cheaper, but the European Misunion can't get their act together and customers are left with a lot of hot air and no plane.
I am not talking about the manufacturing problems that Airbus has with its new jumbo jet. I am talking about sales (and hence production) of their mainline jets that compete with Boeing.

In the last 5 years, the US dollar has declined about 30% versus the Euro. That makes Boeing jets 30% cheaper for foreign buyers than 5 years ago (unless Airbus matches the Boeing price and takes a huge loss).

Since Boeing jets range in price from about $50 million (smallest 737) to about $285 million (largest 747), with a 30% discount on a fleet of planes, you are actually starting to talk about real money.

Ahh, if only the currency markets and interest rates were that simple.

True TRUE,, but I didn't want to say they needed another natural disaster or an unfriendly change of government or something cruel like that.

Another possible NICE help would be a bit of over-spending by the Government putting the budget balance into the red.

I am bringing $1-2K. Do I understand correctly that I shold change a hundred at the airport and the rest in town? I am staying my first 3 nights at Hyatt Erawan. What is the nearest place to change money with no 'losses'?

I would just go to the nearest bank. There are plenty nearby the Erawan.Don't bother with the Hotel as you would not be getting the best rate. If you land on a Friday evening change a bit more at the Airport.

A good start would be a cheaper hotel, and putting the extra $100-$150 a day that you save to good use

Shop around for the best TB rate if you plan on paying cash for everything. If you are charging on a credit card....say, for your room, you are sorta at the mercy of the credit card company as far as what they will consider the exchange rate. Not sure what/how/when they do their calculations, but rest assured it is in their favor.

"What is the nearest place to change money with no 'losses'? "

If you exchange money in BKK,,,,,,,,,you never have "losses". Relax and enjoy your trip. ls

Yes. Only exchange $100 at the airport, and then later exchange the rest at any bank, or an exchange booth run by a bank. They are all over the place.

IMO, you would be better off with American Express Travelers checks than cash if you can get the TC's without a fee in your home country (ask your bank). Make sure that you get them in $100 denomination or higher.
